Stick with the "theme of the party". You didn't mention what type of party, indoor/outdoor, Halloween, Birthday????
Decorate to theme, have great music, a place for dancing add some great food and great friends, plenty of couples and not to exclude both amounts of singles male and female, and that's your ingrediates for a great party.
Otherwise you will have to provide a little bit more information as noted above.

good food and alcohol is important. make sure you have the basic entertainment like music or kareoke. maybe a pool table or horseshoes for out doors. maybe renting out a place to have a nice size party with a bar setting would help too.

It is coming up on Halloween. Throw a costume party. Bob for apples, best costume contest, best "monster masher" (best dancer to the "monster mash" song), ghost stories, campfire/bonfire if possible
