It's the same as every party really.
1. Pick a date and time
2. Pick a venue
3. Pick a theme - I don't mean it has to be luau or anything, but have some type of idea in mind. If the teen likes a specific type of music, sport, has a favorite color, anything like that.
4. Choose your type of food & beverages - This can go with the theme or can just be the teens favorite foods. If you do a venue choose your menu.
5. Choose entertainment - I would highly suggest music, some type of game, and perhaps some type of momento (something signed by guests) for the teen.
6. Begin shopping for your items - Paper and plastic products would make it a lot easier for you. Invitations, favors, music, games, etc.

burgers later on in the evening, lots of snacks, maybe a choclate fondue with strawberries and fruit to dip... good music , lots of different people, good lighting, safe place where no one is crashing it and drinking..parent near by to help if things get out of hand... diversion for the boys like ping pong, pool table, do not place all the furniture in a circle on the edges. make sure the room is broken up into areas, that people can just hang and be comfortable...
lots of drinks, juices, water, sodas....
