When was the last time you caught a deer barehanded and then skinned it and cleaned it barehanded?

Meat eaters will use the excuse that a lion eats an antelope or a cat eats a mouse so it must be okay for them to kill. However, a lion catches its prey with out the use of any tools. A lion also eats the entire animal raw. Humans generally eat just the muscle tissue and occassionally select organs. I mean it would seem to me that any one with a mind to think with can conclude that it is obviously not natural for us to eat meat. To try and hide your guilt by comparing yourself to a lion or any other meat eating animal is just absurd.

I encourage anyone who is reading this message to adopt a cruelty free lifestyle and go veg!

I think we need to work on being more compassionate towards animals. Killing them for food is wrong.

bumpbump, anyone that can eat lamb is one evil sick individual. Do you have any idea what you are doing? Do you not feel any remorse? I question whether some of you people are even human. How we as humans can continue to contribute to the slaughter of innocent animal beings in modern time is beyond me. Some people just don't have any morals I guess.

Vegan Kitty and GNU/Vegan, thanks for those responses. It is encouraging to know there are still people in this world who have compassion towards animals.

I couldn't agree more with you! People keep going on about how eating meat is natural, when it so isn't. Specially when you see how animals are treated and killed, there is nothing natural about that. But that's meat-eater hypocrisy for you. It's like saying our body needs meat. Hello, millions of vegetarians "survive" without it! If meat was vital to us, you and me wouldn't be sending messages on this site right now, we would be 10 feet underground. It's refusing to face up to the evident truth because it's just easier to say it's natural to eat meat and we have no other choice. When in fact it's not natural at all, it's just selfish.

Go vegan!

To all those who talked about using tools to grow vegetables: the big differance is that you can grow them without. You can take a carrot and bit into it and eat it. You can dig it up with your hands. You can pick a piece of fruit and eat it, no tools required.
Can you, on the other hand, chase a deer, catch it, kill it, and tear up its flesh using just your hands and teeth? I doubt it. There is the main differant. How can something we can't do without any help be natural?

Do you really expect them to understand ? I mean you're definitely right, their arguments are absurd but how many can unserstand the logic behind ? There is still some who doesn't know that many animals have intellect and suffer a very similar way than humans.

How many people realise vegetarism is not at all about food ? They think we want to tell them what to eat, they think we want to keep them from eating meat but it's not that at all ! We want to keep them from harming sentient beings !

If you want to eat meat, i'm ok with that as long as you don't harm sentient beings ! Yes meat is tasty, i agree ! And i'm sure human meat is tasty too ! I don't taste it but some did and say it's like chiken. If you have some problems with the idea of human meat just remember few simple arguements :

- meat is good
- people have the right to eat what they want !
- killing for eating is normal (i should say natural !)
- humans are cannibals

Yes, you're right, it's your arguements ! So please let people who want to eat human meat enjoy it ! It's their personal choice !

If you think i'm crazy, maybe you're not smart enough to understand this message. So try vegetarism cause vegatrian are more intelligents it has been proven : http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article-23378331-details/Vegetarians+are+more+intelligent,+says+study/article.do

I can appreciate your sentiments, but your arguments are not valid.

The eating the whole animal part is not valid because when we eat fruit and vegetables we often discard larg parts. Ever eaten an entire pineapple or watermelon?

The non-use of tools is not valid because:
1. I raise and eat pigeons. No tools required
2. Tools are required for the ploughing, planting, harvesting, pruning, spraying of most vegetable farm produce.

You cannot use those arguments to show that meat eating is any less "natural" than veg.

HOWEVER - if you wish to argue that meat eating is IMMORAL in a modern, industrialised society, then you may have a case. Have a go at that, and think about why vegetarianism may not be (currently) a viable global solution.

I don't particularly like meat but I eat it out of convenience. In restaurants, I usually choose vegetarian meals. Your question, however, doesn't make sense. It is a good thing you didn't live some thousands of years ago, as our main food was - you guessed it - meat!!! Raw, tasteless, horrible meat. It was either that or you died. You should count yourself lucky that you didn't live back then. You would have had to catch your animal with your bare hands. Ok, later they invented different tools but that was just what men did. Women still caught smaller animals, like foxes, with their bare hands. Don't judge us by today's comfortable life, we were doing exactly what animals are still doing but since then we made advances in our eating habits (or in the habits of catching our food).

That has to be the most ridiculous argument I have ever heard put forward on the side of being a vegetarian. It seems like you want to try and bring people round to your way of thinking which of course is fair enough but statements like that just turn people off.

Man has been eating meat since he could barely drag himself out of the mud and quite frankly you are the one who is absurd to say that is anything but natural for us to eat meat. Predatory animals catch pray using what ever nature has given them in claws, teeth etc and man was given the brain to utilise tools to do so.

If it wasn't natural for human beings to capture and eat meat then we would not have been doing so thousands of years ago when life was a simple question of survival and procreation of the species. Most animals I should imagine could survive on a vegetarian diet if they had the intellect to consider it and the ability to prepare one but I can't see too many cheetahs rustling up a lentil casserole somehow. In saying that then they are the ones perhaps who are smarter.

I am sorry but self righteous, holier than thou preaching does nothing for anyones cause and for you to say that people are trying to hide their guilt is arrogance and pompousness of the highest order. I eat meat, damn right I do and I do not feel guilty about it one single iota.

If people did as you say and turn veg, in your cruelty free world what would happen to all the animals currently bred for food consumption? Can you also let me know what people would feed their dogs on, just as a thought.

Your innane arguments are far more likely to put someone off making the decision to become vegetarian or vegan. Luckily I have some intelligent veggie and vegan friends and there are intelligent contributors to this forum so I realise that you are either a fool or a troll and not at all representative of vegans or vegetarians.

did you grow the food you ate today???

lions have tools by the way...teeth and claws are considered tools

we cook meat because it tastes better cooked than raw, although i like my steak rare

occasional select organs??? ever heard of haggis?

i have no guilt about what i eat, and i have eaten deer hunted by bow and arrow

stop calling us meat eaters, too...that is a term for someone that strictly eats meat....the proper term is omnivore, meaning we eat meat and veggies

ever look at a cow's teeth? they only have teeth for grinding, they have no incisors...same with horses, since they are both vegetarians....humans have incisors, meant for biting into meat.....vegetarian animals have no incisor teeth

i eat organic meat, since i do not agree with the use of hormones...but i am an omnivore, and will never stop eating meat

I don't have a garden. Do you deny me the right to eat potatoes because I did not dig them up myself ? And the whole point about us being at the top of the evolutionary pile is that we have evolved so that we CAN use tools !

Your question implies that thinking people could not possibly eat meat: the evidence does not really back you up. Infact it says more about your personal prejudice than anything else. A word of advice; if you want to persuade people, insulting them is the dumbest way to go about it.

Apart from eating fish for medical reasons, I am Veggie as is one of my grandchildren.
My son and daughter and my daughters two however are full veggies. I will be honest though whilst I am fully with you, were there no other way as I had been bringing my kids up except for hunting killing and yep cooking so little mouths could cope easily and no shops buy from (or even lift from if I had to)I would have done just that! What I deplore is the hypocrsy of people who go kneel in church or wherever prate about thou shalt not kill then either go do it or get some one else to do it for them. I am no better but if I need any excuse put my health poor though it is first. I do not condemn meat eaters, merely the reasoning and cruelty behind it as well as the lack of need for it.

This is your opinion and I respect that,- but your not shoving it down my throat, I shall enjoy my bacon sandwich and a leg of lamb roast dinner for Sunday twice as much.

The last time I caught a deer barehanded - skinned and cleaned it too ?

In your dreams pal, - I'd lower the dose if I were you.
