I'm having a jewelry party at 730 in the evening. They said to keep the refreshments simple so they can focus on the jewelry. I was thinking at that time, the guests have probably had dinner. I was thinking wine, water, sodas, coffee. and maybe just some cookies and a veggie/dip tray. Does this sound okay ? Any tips would be great

I agree with everything but if you are going to have wine I would have at least one hot hor' or douve for anyone who has not eaten dinner. You can pick one up from Sams or Costco and just heat it up. IE: mini quiches, or something of that nature.

Since you're having your party after the dinner hour, then how about desserts? You can have platters of fresh fruit with a honey yogurt dip, brownies, cookies, and slices of cake. Served with water, teas and coffee, you'll be the hit of the town!

sounds good, but you should also have something a little more filling/substantial if you are serving alcohol; suggest some carb-based appetizers like chips and dip, spinach dip with hawaiian bread cut into chunks, pretzels and a mustard dip, maybe even potato skins or chicken fingers (you can buy these frozen at the grocery store and just pop 'em in the oven)--just make everything finger foods--that will make it easy to serve and eat.

Sounds good! And like the person above said, something small/hot is always good, and the mini-quiches at Costco are great. Also, you may want to have coffe, tea, and hot chocolate since it might go unitl late at night-towards the end. Good Luck :-)!

That sounds good, like you said most people will have already had dinner. Have a good choice of veggies, carrots, broccoli, cucumber, maybe sliced red and yellow peppers, little baby tomatoes, celery, sliced zucchini...that sort of thing.

Ya, I think simple desserts that you can eat with one hand are a good idea (cookies, brownies, etc.) That way people can munch and mingle at the same time!
