If that is the only way you can breath, then it is a good thing. However, from a dental view point, breathing though you mouth all the time can cause your saliva(spit) to thicken and reduces you bodies natural way of keeping your teeth and gums healthy. This over time can lead to gum irritation, increase chance of cavites and possible periodontal problems. Another thing nose hair control is mosture. Hope you get rid of your stuffy nose :)

Personally, I would try to get your stuffed nose treated, keep tissues on you. Without the nose hairs filtering out the things from the air: for example a flu germ is sneezed out. If you breathe that in through your mouth, you will be more likely to get a flu , but if you breathe through your nose, you will have a better chance, since your nose hairs can stop the flu virus from entering the body.

I remember all that from 7th grade science, back in the day.

Good luck! But its better to breathe thru your mouth than nothing at all!!!

When you breath through your nose, the hairs in your nose catch a lot of the dust, germs, and other undesirable things in the air including what may be harmful. when you add these material with mucus, they form boogers.

When you inhale through your mouth, there is nothing there to catch these things and keep them from going into your body.

Also, when you breath through your nose, the air is warmed by the nose hairs before it enters your body. When you breath through your mouth, that does not happen and dries out the mouth and also may cause or worsen bad breath.

So, inhaling through your nose may be preferable to breathing through your mouth. However, exhaling through your mouth would not present a problem except that your throat may get dry often. If you find that you have no choice but to breath through your mouth, you should see a doctor as it may be indicative of adenoiditis (inflammation of the glands), asthma, obstructive sleep apnea, or another malady.

Well it's better to breathe through the nose, because the nose hairs filters all the things that need to be filtred from the air :-)

Hey, if your nose is stuffed up, breathing through your mouth is REALLY good, because the alternative is not breathing at all.

People who breathe through their mouths all the time often have problems with adenoids, and that isn't good, but colds are temporary.

It's pretty uncomfortable to breath through your mouth all the time, and it will cause your teeth to gunk up and give you bad breath. It won't kill you though. Try a nasal inhaler like Afrin, it should clear you up really fast, like within 10 minutes.

...clearly breathing thru yr mouth is better than not breathing at all through yr nose!

Breathing through your nose filters out dust etc on your nose hairs (nice). and warms the air to protect yr lungs.
If u are indoors, it's okay!

do you know why we have hair in our nose? at least less bacteria and dust can get into your lung directly. thats why we need to clean our nose at least once a week. while breathing with your mouth,. bacteria and dust can directly get into your lung. also, it gives you a dry throat.
