PETA should stand for People Encouraging Their Assumptions - they are so full if it. I get so tired of the stuff they spew and the way they will call for protection of one spices and the eradication of another it is all too contradictory. I refuse to even speak to people who claim membership because it tells me right off what ill educated lemmings they are.

Yes, I agree with PETA's views on most things, but not all. People are oblivious (oftentimes on purpose) to where their meat and other animals products come from. There's always going to be arguements about whether it's right or wrong to consume animals because some people are just not willing to give up foods they love, but there is no question that the way MOST animals are abused in the various industries that exploit them are just wrong and uneccessary. Nothing is going to change, no new guidelines and procedures are going to be written and enforced unless people KNOW about the horrors and who is going to educate the people...? The meat and dairy industries? I don't think so. So groups like PETA are important.

I feel that PETA has denied a vital fact. Humans are natural too. To say we are not entitled to prey upon other animals is to deny our own biology. We are OMNIVORES. we eat everything. All three kingdoms, we farm plants, ranch animals, and even mine salt from the earth. Anyone that knows basic biology can look at our teeth and see what we are designed to eat. There is no need to be cruel about it, but before I can fry it, the chicken will meet the ax. My family always grew a big garden and raised animals for food. They were named, cared for, played with, and eventually slaughtered and eaten. We treated them a lot like pets but there was never an illusion that they were not food. I don't like "factory farms" but understand that as predators, when a food source is not sufficient to feed the extant population, one of two things must occur. The predators must either decrease their own demand or seek an increase in supply of prey. If PETA wants to defend the animals from cruelty, I say thats a worthy cause. However, curing a cold with a shotgun is insane, even if it works. Stop trying to prevent people from eating meat and promote a more "ethical" means of meeting a demand that is not going to disappear in the face of radical and offensive action.
Eco-terrorism is as bad as any other kind. How many PETA members out there think we should surrender to Bin Laden?
None? OK. How many Non-PETA members feel we should surrender to PETA's demands? Hmm. same result?

If you believe the earth is flat, does it mean you're right? People should NOT believe whatever they want to believe. The whole world would become chaotic and violent, like in the dark ages.
The only objections I have to PETA is they are hypocritical sometimes, and should do a better, calmer job of communicating the truth. But what they say, despite couched in flamboyant language, IS the truth.
Ipsydoodle,
Since humans are not plants, fungi or bacteria, what are we? ANIMALS.
Walking on Sunshine,
Yes, I too disagree with PETA when they start interfering with ecology. But I appreciate them for educating the public about the meat industry.

Irrespective of how one looks at it animals should be treated humanely. You need to visit an abattoir, broiler chicken production unit or a feedlot to appreciate why many people support PETA.
The horrific experiments that are carried out on animals make me want to puke.... and to think that I have to respect humans that carry out these experiments. Before you point a finger go and see for yourself. If you are half as bright as you seem to be you will change your attitude and you will understand why we react the way we do. BTW I am not involved (PETA) I am just a concerned animal lover. Cruelty in any form is not acceptable this applies to humans as well.

Please name a special interest group that doesn't push its beliefs on others in some way. Go ahead. I'm waiting. This is America, and it's called free speech. If you believe injustice is going on, you are allowed to speak out against it.
I also used to be annoyed by pETA, but I was also living in denial and refusing to educate myself about the truth. In order to improve yourself as an individual, you must seek the truth and act upon it.

I don't agree with many of their beliefs, but there are also many PETA principles that I do agree with. Their primary mission is education and getting awareness of the humane or inhumane treatment of animals out into the public. That I think they are accomplishing. Most, 'cept for a few freaks, of PETA's activists are peaceable and honorable members of society who are simply trying to educate the public, and I've gotten some of my philosophy from them.

I personally do not agree with all of the tactics of PETA. They can be very terroristic at times, however , at the same time their message is good. They could be a great organization if they did not have a few zealots (some of whom I think frequent in here). I guess it is the same with everything though. One can never have a good cause without a few nuts wreaking havoc for you. Such a shame!

Peta is too extremist, there for I cannot like them.
Edit; I know where my meat comes from and what happens. I HAVE watched an animal being skinned and meat cut up it is not pretty but I still enjoy eating meat.
