If you died from eating meat and you were given a second chance at life, would you stop eating meat the second time around? Do you think it would be possible for you to feel remorse about killing innocent animals?

Sorry for all the rudeness here Ashley...as this is the Vegetarian & Vegan section, some people just need to grow up. If your a veg. then so be it....each to their own and nobody should be cutting you up!! I eat meat (Not Much as my mother says I might as well become a vegetarian) and have my own view and I am not about to push my views on you...There is certain meat I will eat and others I could gag on.

I don't eat much at all!!! As Bambi is my friend.......Peter Rabbit as well.

Now in a case like the mad cow disease, ummm yes people died from that. It depends on you.......if meat killed me the first time around I would be very cautious the next time around

The people that are meat eaters and cutting her up in this question...ummm there is another section for you.....get out of this one!!!!

I am thinkin about going all veg....

Well if you've been brought up vegan, it would be unwise to eat meat right away - you won't die, you might have a bit of an upset stomach. You need to consult your local GP and ask them how you should go about it. You need to introduce it into your diet slowly so that your body can get used to meat. Usually you need to start off with poultry and or fish; definitely stay away from pork, as you may have trouble digesting it. You won't die if you eat meat, it is actually a healthier lifestyle to eat red meat 3-5 times a week; humans are omnivores, and therefore we need to eat both meat and vegetables/fruits/legumes. Move onto red meats when you get the okay from your GP. I love meat, well certain meats; it is, once it's apart of your diet, good for you (not the fatty stuff). Ignore those who say yes; scientists are saying that including lean meat in our diet is healthier than a diet with no meat at all. The only way you get bowel cancer - for the person who conveniently does not allow email - is from smoking, family history, not enough fibre (having a diet including meat doesn't mean that we don't eat fruit/vegetables/legumes etc) and FATTY meats - note emphasis on fatty. There are some things in meat that you can't get out of a vegan diet. Proof that you won't suffer from an early death - my whole family, my neighbours and friends all eat meat - none of them have dropped down dead. I only know of one person who died of bowel cancer (he's not in my family) - was a smoker, didn't have much fibre in his diet etc.

I am a little confused - this is the area for discussing vegetarian and vegan diet and lifestyle - why are all these meat eaters trying to suggest that their diet is superior to veggie/veganism?

If I was given a second chance at life I would make amends for my ways. But I don't believe that we have a second life - it is this life then Glory.

Just because I have sharp teeth why should I kill a sentient being to eat when I enjoy vegetarian food more? Dead meat does taste bizarre.

well personally i wouldnt eat the steak in the first place because im a vegetarian...but if i did wouldnt it be a matter of karma? If you ate the meat and it was wrong to do so, wouldnt you come back as an animal to be shot and eaten? or if you should of eaten the meat, wouldn't you either come back superior or just a human that was prepared to eat meat again? anyway hopefully if this happens to you, you will come back with a change of heart! =]

How can we feel remorse for something we have not done? I have never killed an animal, I only eat what I buy at the supermarket. So, if you died from typing this rubbish, and where given a second chance, would you feel remorse about it?

If you died from eating meat, how would you know that the meat killed you...? Would some angel tell your spirit? What if you were reincarnated as a steak and someone ate YOU... would you kill that person?

My opinion is that different kinds of things were placed upon this planet for us to eat. What we wish to eat should not be frowned upon by others, and they also should not tell us what to eat. What if you were in some country where the people told you that you could only eat crickets and worms...? Would you feel sorry for the insects and worms?

Maybe you get my point, maybe not.

Just enjoy life, and stop worrying about what cannot happen. THAT will help you live longer...less stress, I mean.

I got food poisoning once from sausage and ended up in the hospital but I don't blame the pig. lol!

Everything should be eaten in a spirit of gratitude and it's sad so many are cruelly killed for sport. That makes me angry. But you know I get upset with those who think it's alright to judge what others eat. I get upset when some protected species dies from hunger because of the surplus of their breed. Or when animal life is considered more sacred than a human's. If a bull attacked a human would it still be innocent? I bet chickens don't consider worms innocent or is it only the dumb that are innocent? Cruelty is one thing. I think there should be stricter laws. But I don't believe I'm committing murder if I eat meat.

This world has so many problems it just really pains me that people can't spend more time and money on those than judging what someone eats. Have you ever squashed a mosquito, killed a rat or mouse? Hey, they were only doing what comes naturally. Does that make you a murderer? Or are the guilty just the creatures over a certain size for the reason of eating? Get real. Militant vegetarians (like any fanatics) do more to hurt their cause than help.

For me I just feel better not eating meat. I was a meat-eater for 27 years. Went vegetarian for 7 years had a baby being vegetarian and everything. Then I got pregnant with my son and I craved meat. He is now 1 1/2 and I am going to be going Vegetarian again. I had more energy, I looked better and I was happier.

I agree with sandstorms_brother. How can eating meat be natural, since we can't kill or eat an animal without using tools? As for our teeth, they are herbivore's teeth: or canine teeth are no longer than our other teeth, which makes it impossible to tare raw flesh. Take a look at meat-eating animals; their canine teeth are way longer.

Anyway, I'm not going to way to die from chollesterol or blocked arteries before I stop eating meat. I've been veggie then vegan for a long time - for the animals.

Go vegan!
