Thank you all for the information. It was really hard to choose a best answer as your answers were all the best! I thank you all very much for your help and the sites you gave me! She is on l-lysine now and her eyes are better, she seems less tired and she only sneezes maybe twice a day now! Now, all I have to do is clear up her ear infection with the antibiotics the vet gave me! He had said she had allergies but I new she had an ear infection because of the ear mites she had! Sometimes you need to go with your intuition! Thank you all again!! God Bless you all!!

I haven't heard that. as long as you treat the symptoms as they come up you shouldn't have a problem.

you can join this group, they should be able to help you out a great deal along with your vet of course. http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/felineherpes/

give your cat 500mg daily of l-lysine and 1000mg when she is starting to get a flare up.

take good care of her and she will live a long time.

The herpes virus can be blocked by Lysine (also called L-Lysine). The generic form is cheapest, you don't need to go with a brand name. I get mine from the vitamin section at the grocery store. A bottle of 60 pills costs $4. Crush the tablets into powder, with the back of a spoon, and put it on their food.

Don't use the gel caps, that stuff tastes awful, stick with the pills crushed into powder. A cat dose is between 250 and 500 mg a day, but you only need to give it for a week to see if it'll be effective. If it's starting to clear stuff up you can pull back to giving it three times a week.

We use it on our FIV positive cats, it keeps their eyes clear.

If it turns out to be the calci virus instead of the herpes, you'll need to get an ointment from the vet for that one, it's a prescription medication. But you can still give lysine to the cat, it also helps the eyes, and helps the body heal, boosting the immune system a bit. There aren't any side effects. If the cat gets too much of a dose, the excess is pooped out, the body won't use it. You don't have to worry abut it accumulating in the organs or anything and causing a problem.

People use the l-lysine so you should be able to find it in a health food store or even a regular pharmacy.

Another option is to use the highest quality food you can do for her. If you can go to a raw food diet that is the very best. Go to http://www.felinefuture.com and check out their supplement powder for cat food. It is a Canadian operation.

Cats don't die from recurrent herpes infections and you can make her life more comfortable by using the l-lysine and giving her quality food.

Get on-line and buy her some powered lyisine for cats. THis will help her fight the virus. You might also find a vet that will prescribe interferon for her as well.

Also boost her immune system by giving her probiotics (you can buy these on-line as well).

You need to help her boost her own immune system
