My sister is 15 and has very bad allergies. Also has exercised induced asthma. She's been coughing for 2 weeks now, and having alot of rib pain while coughing. So much, that it hurts to move her arm above her head. I'm trying to get my parents to call the doctor. What could possibly be wrong?

you have cartlidge between the ribs and constant coughing can cause inflamation in the cartlidge.. which in turn causes pain or discomfort . also you use muscles around the ribs when you cough and they get sore.

She could have cracked a rib from coughing or torn the "floating" ribs a bit loose. I have done both and it does hurt like hell.

The only thing they do is use an Ace wrap fairly snug to keep the rib in place while it heals.

Probably an infection due to allergies and having the mucous travel from her nasal passages to her throat down to her bronchial tubes. Ask the doctor for a strong antibiotic and a cough medicine that will help her sleep.

You may not believe me but I am a psychic. I work with law enforcement and have proven myself over and over. She needs to see a doctor. There is fluid in her lung and some sort of irritation and swelling in the lining around her lung. I think they call it Pluricy. Go to a doctor ASAP.

Use VICKS VAPO RUB on her chest and the sore muscles at night. It will help the soreness and the coughing.

It sounds like she has lung congestion.
