They're not a membership organization, but Compassion Over Killing is an excellent organization whose primary focus is animals enslaved for food. They have had commercials running on MTV.
You can contact www.farmsanctuary.org and "adopt" a farm animal. There are several other sanctuaries for farmed animals you can support as well.

supporting the local animal rescues is the best way to go. horse rescues especially. these are the ones who are awarded the animals in neglect and abuse cases, and are major advocates for humane treatment of animals. Habitat for Horses is a group that is close to me that I support.

I support the NORTH SHORE ANIMAL LEAGUE. They take in strays, and abandoned or abused pets. They rehabilitate and nuture these animals to full health and then take the time to find them GOOD homes.

Sorry no such thing as a "good" animal rights group, they are all a bunch of over zealous hypocrites trying to make a buck, making people think they are saving animals- from what?
