Nobody really knows. Any answer would be pure speculation.

Our evolution from apes was a series of chance 'accidents'. Diet may have had a minor influence but I don't think we would be any different today if human diets had been vegan in the past.

Correct me if I'm wrong, you scientists out there.

Even if we did evolve from the ape species, please remember that apes are not pure vegans, either. They live on insects and occasionally eggs as well as their veggies.

I think so, although apes aree closer to being vegans than most people are so that is a pretty profound question.
