I am the queen of vegan junk food. I make a rockin' vegan rocky road fudge (yes, Virginia, there are vegan marshmallows). I live near a totally awesome vegan bakery. I have found several vegan shopping sites that carry amazing vegan junk.
Read "Skinny *****," and it will tell you all sorts of vegan packaged foods you can have. Once you realize there are plenty of delicious cruelty-free goodies you can have, you will learn to eat the less-than-healthy stuff in moderation.

Identify WHY you eat junk? What is in it you are craving sugar, salt, fat? Those are the usual culprits.and all 3 VERY addictive.
Fat: try some Avacodo dip with natarul corn chips.
Or Raw Nuts & seeds both high in fat but not junkie at all.
Salt: Celery is good for that also something like V-8 Juice. The latter not idea but better than most salty snacks.
Sugar: Dates, Meedjool are the best or some other dried fruit you like. Or Fresh fruit. When I am really dealing with the sweet tooth, the dates work for me.
Now if the real deal is your"Mom" makes the best "X" & you can't resist... then figure out how to just eat a tiny piece.
I am an adult & have control over the goodies that come in to my home so I just don't bring here. But it sounds like you are not there yet. You do need to find a Good Helathy TREAT that helps you be more resistant to the bad stuff.
I do hope this was some help.

I eat mostly low calories foods, not a lot of junk. I used to eat a lot of junk food, but when I realized it served no purpose to eat(ie-no nutritional value, etc) I stopped.
There is not too much junk in my house, if I don't have to see it I won't eat it. I keep all my healthy snack and foods in a seperate area of the kitchen, this way I am not opening up the pantry door and seeing cakes, cookies, etc. I can go to my foods and choose from fruits and veggies, or low cal snacks(pretzels, crackers, etc)
This is not to say that I don't have the occasional treat. I allow myself a high calorie, sugar filled, junk food once a week. When I tried to cut out the junk completly it made me want it more. When I first started I would crave junk all the time, so I allowed myself a junky snack(within reason, ie-one serving) as a dessert. After a couple of weeks I wouldn't want the junk as much so I could say to myself, "I'll skip the junk food dessert tonight and eat one tomorrow." After about a month of watching what I was eating my body was not as used to taking in all the sugar and calories and therefore didn't crave it. I hardly eat junk food at all now, most high sugar foods make my stomach hurt now.
I think the real trick is to keep your healthy foods separate(either in your own cupboard, or in a plastic tote) this way you are not tempted. Allow yourself a guilt free treat once and awhile. Keep your healthy food stocked well, and remember that not everything has to be fruit and veggies. My main goal is to eat snacks that are no more than 150 cal a serving and no more than 5 gr fat, and none/very little saturated fats. Besides fruit/veggies I currently have in my "stock": pretzels, sugar free pudding(this is really great when you want a sweet snack), ritz crackers, 100 cal cookie packs, popcorn(lite), rice/corn cakes, low sugar granola bars, sugar free ice pops, etc.

I certainly couldn't tell you about people in general, but as for myself, I lost a lot of weight some time ago; what I did is start eating healthy. I never became a vegetarian because I love meat, but I did start eating 100% whole wheat, lots of tuna (albacore), salmon, vegetables, tons of fruit, less cheese (I LOVE sharp cheddar), less and healthier corn chips, drink lots of water, etc. I developed a taste for a lot of new things just by eating them all the time. I guess it takes a little discipline, much more than I ever give myself credit for because, though this new paradigm has stayed with me my whole life, I still love some bad stuff, but a long time ago I JUST STOPPED going to McDonalds and Wendy's. I still eat too many tacos (I'm Hispanic and live in San Antonio, what can I say?), but that has waned through the years as well (it used to be worse).
The point is that if you just feed yourself the things you KNOW are healthy for you, your body will develop a taste for the new foods to the point that eventually you will crave a tuna salad with lots of vegetables and wonder how your kids will put so much ketchup on their double bacon cheeseburger, but you actually will not desire the burger. Miracles do happen!

Yes, I eat junk food....but I've also changed my definition of it. To me, junk food is Kashi crackers, Kashi cookies, and fruit-flavored popsicles.
I really don't eat potato chips, pretzels, ice cream, chocolate bars, and 'regular' cookies.
Kashi snacks have ingredients that are better for the body than most "normal" junk food, but since they are still processed and not home-made, I do consider them to be junk food (even though it's widely considered health food).
My advice would be to abstain from that type of food for as long as possible. Then, out of the blue, try some of it. It will taste gross. That's how I did it. (I had this quasi-addiction to Wavy Lay's. I didn't eat them for a month and when I tried some after that, they were too salty and way too greasy!)
If that doesn't help, just try to change the way you think about junk food....satisfy your sweet tooth with a handful of grapes or a banana. Satisfy your salt/crunch craving with plain popcorn or even (low-sodium tortilla) chips and salsa.
That way, you can still eat "treats" with your family, but they are not as unhealthy as the others. Plus, you can still feel normal while they might be eating a high-calorie or high-fat version of the same thing (i.e. if they love buttered popcorn or caramel popcorn).
Good luck!

I sometimes eat fries but that's when there isn't any other options like at many burger joints. Eating junk now and then won't hurt, unless you're allergic to something in it. Try eating junk just a couple of times a week and start cutting back on it.
You can try to sway the rest of the family into eating healthy my asking them to put more veggies on the shopping list. if they don't you can always go to the store yourself and get them.

my junk foods include tortilla chips and salsa, Terra root vegetables, pretzels, vegan homemade sweets off all kinds (cookies, cakes, kettle corn), and vegan chocolate. I just do it in moderation! I don't have cookies on hand all the time. If my daughter asks for some, I make about a dozen to two dozen and no more. Then these are shared between two sugar loving kids and two adults (one of which is addicted to sugar) so they are finished by the second day and I won't make anymore for another week at least! My homemade treats are also whole grain and reduced sugar to help balance them out! You just have to try your hardest to stay away or ask your parents to not bring them in the house as much!

Well, first of all, its a myth that your skin breaks out if you eat too much junk. It's not true. There is really no way to stop eating junk all together. But, it's not bad to have some candy everyday just as long as you get good exercise. Good luck.

I eat junk food every once in a while. I'm vegan, so my options are rather limited, but I'll eat potato chips if I'm craving something salty and fatty. Oreos are vegan, or I can make my own cookies if I want something sweet. I also love to munch on a handful of dark chocolate chips. Just try to eat healthily as much as you can, and the times you want junk will grow rarer and rarer. It also helps if you don't keep junk food in the house, so if you want it, you have to want it enough to make a special trip out.

Not really. I eat some chocolate every once in awhile, but I'm trying to transistion myself into eating dark chocolate only, which has some health benefits. Most packaged chips and cookies have lots of preservatives and hidden dairy in them (I don't eat dairy) so I've just learned to avoid them. If I want something sweet, I'll usually grab some fruit, or maybe some dry cereal.
My family has no influence on me. I cook on my own. They eat meat all the time too. I think once you get into the habit of eating less junk, you won't crave it anymore.

mmm.. junk food. i TRY to avoid it, and i fail miserably :) sometimes, i'll go weeks without it and other times, i'll have a snack everyday.
i still eat popcorn (whose ingredients are only corn kernels), soy jerky, and potato chips. my downfall is vegan ice cream and chocolate cake. but i don't feel so guilty afterwards because i'll go to the gym and work off the extra calories.
it's hard when you're around it so much, but it won't hurt if you treat yourself to it every now and then. you can keep eating healthy and have your junk food. just limit your portions and opt for "healthier" junk food... check the ingredient labels and get chips that don't have 100 ingredients. get dark chocolate... again, not the m&m's kind.. that's fake chocolate.
good luck and happy health! :)
