A tomato is a vegetable, not a fruit. The other answerers are making fun of you, or they are just misinformed or confused.

Ask the Produce Manager in your local grocery store, or do an internet search on "tomato."

It's a vegetable, for absolute sure. No question about it. Squash are vegetables, too.

It's weird but, it is actually a fruit. Fruits have their seeds on the inside where vegetables have their seeds on the outside.

Really depends on how you define fruit and vegetable. There are different ways to determine, nutrition, type of seeds, method of planting.

I consider it a vegetable.

FRUIT, its definatly a fruit, because it protects the seeds of the plant. Such like raspberries and blueberries, apples etc.
It is only refered to as a vegetable in the cooking sesnse because it is then for a savoury use.
Vegetables are other edible parts to a plant, like cabbage leaves, celery stalks.

Literally, every word of aviophage's answer is incorrect.

Unreal.

Both, depending on whether they're still on the vine or on your plate. On the vine, they're a vegetable. On your plate, they're a fruit. Or vice versa. I forget which is which.
