I am tired of eating Mexican food with my boyfriend's family and would like to cook them something from my own background. Do you think there is anything they will be able to enjoy? I think they will like saurkraut, but what else should I make?

If they're open to it they'll be able to like it. I know nothing about German cuisine - the weekend I spent in Hamburg was full of beer, bread and jellied meats - but I'd choose dishes that are as far away from Mexican as possible. That way there'll be less comparisons made.

no way, Thai food tops for spiciness. Mexican food is rather boring and dull and a lot different authentic vs. taco bell. But most things i fing taste the same with chilli powder being main ingredient, while not only does Thai hav e variety but is way hotter tasting then mexican. Mexican ay come close but it really all depends on the sause you but on top of it, Barbados sauce i find spiciest of all hot to taste.

How about Sauerbraten and Potato Dumplings? Or Bratwurst (always a favorite)? Wiener Schnitzel? Potato Pancakes?

So many choices ... mmm :o)

as long as the german dish tingles their tastebuds you shouldn't have any problems.

Some good old cabbage rolls stuffed with spiced up ground meats and such... served with potato dumplings and a rich meat sauce....

Oh, and don't forget to serve a good german beer with the meal.

There is no reason why they shouldn't enjoy it. I love German food! Now I am hungry for potato dumplings, roast pork, and applesauce.

how about rouladen, a good pot roast with red cabbage, cabbage rolls, stuffed peppers, potatoe salad with bratwurst and sauerkraut, and 100 other dishes you can think of. And for desert a nice strudel.

Can't go wrong with wiener schnitzel and potato dumplings.
Serve it with sauteed spinach, maybe a salad, and apple strudel for dessert.
