I did pep test and my OBGYN tells me now I have abnormallities in my cervical cell and have HPV. Did I get hpv from my boyfriend? He had multiple (3-5) partners before I met him and I only had one partner before. Please help.

If you tested negative before you met him then you most likely got it from your current boyfriend, especially if he has had multiple partners. Having multiple partners increases a persons chance of contracting STDs because they are more exposed to them compared to someone who has fewer partners.

Also, it's basically impossible for your boyfriend to find out if he has HPV or not because unfortunately there is NO test for men to detect HPV. Most men find out they have HPV by developing genital warts, but not everyone with HPV develops genital warts and it can take several months and even years to develop them after they have been infected. This is one of the reasons why HPV is so common. Most people are unaware they even have the virus and end up spreading it unknowingly.

Take care!

Not definitely. The thing about HPV is it's a virus so it can stay dormant in your body for however long it wants, then one day it becomes active. Unless your previous sexual partner was YEARS back it's very hard to rule someone else out.

Sounds like you did get HPV from him. I am not sure why you had unprotected sex from him though. Haven't you heard about safe sex and using a condom at all times?? Be sure you tell any future partners that you have HPV
