Diabetes in itself is not enough to get SSI. There are many people who are diabetic who work. The issue for any state is if you can work or not. Just because you say you can't work is not enough. They want proof of this. If you got SSI for diabetes, it would be because you have major complications from it.

Diabetes in itself will not qualify you for SSI no matter where you live.

There are millions of diabetics out there who work and live active and normal lives. I'm one of them. I'm a type 1 and I work a full time job and take care of my family.

Did I mention that I'm an EMT?

Please don't attempt to use SSI as a free ride. If you are capable of working, then you should be working. Save the SSI for the people who really need it and for the day when you might need it. It's not something to be abused by people who are looking for an easy way out.
