Dog meat is a delicacy in certain areas of China, particularly also from Guang Zhou. I have walk past restaurants where you see the dogs and cats sitting quietly in their cages not knowing that they will be served on the platter soon. It was such a disturbing sight for me. It troubled me to think about that.
I have not known of anyone who ate dogmeat, and I think that person will probably not admit that they did as dogs are a man's best friend and it can be disturbing for one to find out.

Why is it sick? Indians ate dog. To the Ogala Sioux it was a treat reserved for special guests. Korea has always eaten dog. Different cultures do different things, and when you stop to think about it, why eat cow or chicken or anything else and leave dogs off the menu.
By the way, cheese is not enjoyed around the world. Some cultures consider eating old rotted milk as 'sick'.

When I visited Shanghai on business this May, my Chinese business contact took me to a place in an upscale mall and they served dogs done in a variety of ways. We ordered a selection of small samples which included deep-fried street dog, barbecued basset, and perhaps the most disgusting of all was served like a tartare steak. An experience that I never plan on repeating, but when in Rome.....

yep, I ate dog in China (just to try it). It's considered a delicacy there. The strange thing is that many Chinese also have dogs as pets... so I don't know how they reconcile that, as I would have thought that this is the reason Westerners find the idea of eating dog so repulsive.

Barbecue dog meat is a delicacy in South Korea. There is a town with many restaurants that specialised in dog meat. I happen to be there with my Korean business partner and was told that we have no other choice but dog meat for dinner. Luckily its quite tasty.

I've never knowingly eaten dog meat but if you travel to parts of Asia, you might find it served to you in restaurants without your knowledge.

I haven't, but I would. I have a Romanian friend who's lived under Ceausescu's rule (very bad man) and she's says her mom used to bring home some very suspect food, but she ate it because she was so hungry.
