I agree with the ice cream cake idea...or you could do a regular cake in a sports theme....a fav. pro or college team

If you know his favorite group or singer, actor or actress and you can print out a good picture of them you can have it put on the cake. They will sandwhich it between rice paper squares the size of the picture so you can decorate around it or get it as big as you want and then when you need to cut it you can either take it off or cut around it. Hope that helps and your son has a good 16th!

This is a site for wonderful cakes people have made. You have to sign up to look at them all ( no cost ). The people tell you how they made them. These are not professional bakers. I'm sure you will find some inspiration there. If you are planning to purchase the cake, look at the other site for some fabulous cakes.

My son is 15....he's at that age too!
Make or buy him an ice cream cake.
Cold Stone Creamery has awesome cakes or buy a Carvel ice cream cake from the grocery store if they sell them where you live. Just have a simple, "Happy Birthday, _____" put on the cake. I promise if he likes ice cream, he will love an ice cream cake.
