Mine are:
Them: Where do you get your protein?
Me: Many things, including beans, nuts, soy and fortified foods have protein in them. I get more than enough.
Them: I thought vegans were all sickly thin, how come you're not?
Me: Being a vegan does not have to mean less calories. Calories in + exercise = calories burned. It's as simple as that.
Them:What do you eat then?
Me: Everything you do, but without the animal products. In fact, my diet is probably more varied than yours since I tried to incorporate a lot of exotic foods.
Them: Why don't you eat meat?
Me: I don't like it for any reason.
Them: Oh, so it's not for ethical reasons?
Me: Not exactly
Them: Well, that's ok then (as if it weren't ok if it were for ethical reasons).

The most common question I'm asked is about protein & I explain that most ppl actually eat *way* more than they need & tell them about soy, beans & nuts as well as let them know that all fruits & veggies have *some* protein in them.
Occasionally someone will say something like: "But you still eat chicken & fish, right?" My response is simply that I don't eat *any* animals.
Probably the strangest question that crops up is: "So, you can't eat nuts?" I'm guessing that ppl are thinking of the term, 'nut meat.' Depending on how interested the person actually is, I either simply say that I do eat nuts, or I'll go into the genesis of the word 'meat' & maybe add that I'm not a nominalist so just calling something 'meat' doesn't make it so (some of my friends enjoy this kind of discussion, which may be why that question gets asked as much as it does).

I think a huge one is the whole "where do you get your protein", or similar questions regarding my nutrient intake. My reply? "While you're busy eating a big mac, fries, and a coke for lunch, i'm eating a salad, an apple, and a bottle of water". And as far as the protein thing goes, I probably get more protein in my diet than most people who eat meat.

Them -Why do you not eat meat?
Me- I don't like it and I feel it's wrong
Them -Why do you think it's wrong
Me -Well one example is that I don't see a difference between eating a cow and eating the family dog.
Them- Cows are raised for food dogs are not.
Me- Yes, but what is the difference? The cow/steak or whatever is animal flesh, if you cut up a dog its the same thing right, animal flesh. What is the difference?
Them- I don't know? What?
Exactly my point!!!

On days when I happen to be in either vegan or vegetarian mode, I'm frequently asked, "How can you be a vegan/vegetarian and talk intelligently about things other than diets and suffering animals?" Or, "You aren't an insufferable bore and not lacking in social skills like other vegans/vegetarians I've met".
I tell them as a flexarian vegan/vegetarian I'm flexible about knowing about what's going on in the world about me and developing interests other than foraging for food.
I find it more ethically and emotionally honest to be open about my flexarian vegan/vegetarians leanings and what I am about then being a closeted ovo-pollo vegetarian for 25+ years.

I understood that extra when I grew to alter right into a father any loving parent feels that way and that's how God feels approximately you God the father via his means The holy Spirit conceived in Mary a son his purely son Jesus. Them: Animals are useless and don't do anything helpful. Why are you defending them?
Me:Home dogs don't do anything useful, but people love them and shudder at the idea of feasting on their dog.So why is it different for any other animal???
