In my humble opinion, this demonstrates a blinkered and unscientific world view. It is not our place to decide whether animals have a purpose or not. Animals exist, and that's that. The same goes for plants, rocks, and everything else. Looking for a reason for their existence is akin to a dog chasing its tail. A useless, irrelevant pursuit.

I eat plants because my body needs them. I don't see plants as being put on here for us to eat. The same would go for animals if I needed to eat them but we don't need to eat them.

I agree for the most part, although I might have a slightly different interpretation.

I think every living thing has a purpose, but it's not up to us to decide what that purpose is. Human beings aren't even sure about their own purpose; so how can they claim to know the purpose of any other living thing?

We all have viewpoints and opinions, but no one can truly comprehend the whole of reality. We can only use what we have learned to interpret reality. I can't remember his name, but some Hindu philospher made the analogy that if someone wears sandals made of leather, he imagines that the entire world is covered with leather just so he can walk comfortably--that is, we make our own reality and live in it.

I don't eat animals because I find it unpleasant and it's not necessary. I couldn't justify meat eating once I was educated enough to know it was not required. I did not love meat eating so much that I could disregard the killing of my fellow creatures. Plently of people aren't going to agree with me, but that's up to them.

Not everything seems to serve a purpose, but as inquisitive creatures, we must always ask "Why?". It is more comforting to believe that everything has a purpose because we can then translate that to our own humanity. There would be a lot more people jumping off bridges if they truly believed there was no purpose to anything. Personally, I plan on living forever (so far, so good), but I would like to be content at the end of my days knowing I had a purpose, and followed through. So far as animals are concerned, I may not know their purpose, but I do know that like other creatures, they do not want to die. It only seems fair to me that I should respect that request if they respect mine.

On the other hand, if we find out twenty years down the road that plants do indeed have a cerebral cortex, I hope boiling rocks is very nutritous, or at least that becoming a fruitarian is a viable option.

I agree. Why do people always need an answer or justification for the way I choose to eat? I don't look for an answer or NEED to justify what meateaters eat and why.

It seems though more meateaters need some kind of justification for my eating habits than the other way around. Why is that? Why are they so facinated with my veggie eating habits? I'm not an alien I wish they would stop investigating and picking apart my eating habits like I am.

I don't need animal proteins either to properly live and so I don't eat them That's it.

this is controversial whether this is greater useful to be the sufferer of a malicious act than an twist of destiny. many human beings sense greater useful i think of if their misfortune has a objective. God or the devil or another supernatural ability ******* with them is greater gentle than the reality, because of the fact it makes them sense like they are substantial adequate to count number and there continues to be some administration. the thought that they may be destroyed completely by ability of an uncaring, unaware universe for no reason in any respect would properly be terrifying. even nevertheless it is not substantial in case you detect a devil actively plotting against much less frightening than an unfathomable universe destroying you because of the fact you're extremely only dirt. A delusion being comforting would not make it actual.

They think that if you can't find the right answers for everything, their god won't reward them with eternal joy and freedom from suffering.
