What's "steep". To me, steep is 20%. To someone else, it might be 10%. Figure out what the percent grade is (elevation gained divided by distance, or rise over run, just like algebra class), and then ask. Words like "steep", "slow", "fast", or "rough" have no meaning here. Your question is just too vague. You also didn't mention how fast you normally hike. Fast for me is 4 mph or more. Fast for gramma is 1.5 mph.

oIf you are walking on a flat trail at an average pace, you can expect to walk 3 to 4 miles in an hour without stopping. Since 1/2 mile of the trail is steep, figure about 1/2 to 1 hour just for that section. The entire section should take no longer than 2 1/2 hours. Be sure to drink plenty of water.

I just hikes to half dome in yosemite last week and the round trip was 10 hours for me with a 35 pound pack, thats 16 miles round trip. I'm not in as good shape as I was 25 years ago LOL! But You should figure about 3 to 4 hours. I don't know how good of shape you are in but I know I could do in in a little more than 2 easily with out stopping. If you plan on taking pictures or stopping for other purposes plan on those "down" times also. Don't leave to late if you are planning an evening hike and carry lots of water and extra clothing just in case along with some food for energy.

The rule of thumb is 4 mph for a brisk walk on easy terrain with a very light pack, 3 mph for a slight climb or moderate pack, 2 mph for a heavy pack or fairly rough/steep trail, and 1 mph or less for the really challenging stuff. This doesn't take into account for rest and meal stops, only actual traveling time. Note that brisk means brisk, walking like you want to get there, not a sight-seeing stroll.

probably about 2 hours. You can figure that you would be hining about 2 miles per hour on flat ground (a reasonable speed) and the steep part add another 1/2 hour - so maybe about 2.5 hours.

The first half mile will be tough - figure an hour. Then another hour and a half to walk the rest of the way.
