A tick should ALWAYS be removed with tweezers. Grasp the tick by the head and pull it straight out. Do not twist while pulling. 9/10 of the time it will come out.
If the tick is removed in a 24 hour period the chances of contracting anything other than a light infection are rare. Use antibiotic cream or wipes to clean the area. Cover with a Band-Aid.
Should the bite develop a red or reddish brown bullseye shaped mark after a day or so, then seek medical attention as soon as possible.

You should be very careful about removing ticks with tweezers. That's a good way to get a really nasty infection, which you wouldn't want in such a...nice part of your body. :)
You should go to the doctor, but if you don't go, then definitely look for a bump and keep a close eye on it.
In the future if you get a tick, just take some fingernail polish and cover the tick with it. Eventually, it will pull out on it's own because it can't breath. That's the best way to take care of them. I've dealt with many ticks!

it's probably ok. but keep a close watch for redness.
Lymes desease usually shows a red circle around the area in which the tick was burried.

I would need to see some pictures of the affected area to give my opinion on the matter....barring those, keep an eye on it the next couple of days and some antibiotic cream will help it heal quickly.

If you removed the head you should be fine. However if it burrowed in and depending on how long it was there you may want to see the doctor to have some antibodies proscribed.
