I know two fast snacks for smaller children:
My mother used to cut bananas into three pieces and dip one piece in chocolate, one in peanut butter, and one in whip cream and then freeze them. She called the banana pops.

Also there are bugs on a log- Celery pieces filled with peanut butter, then place raisins on top. It looks like bugs on a log

This one is pretty easy....ants on a log!

Just slice up some celery(logs), spread peanut butter into the groove of the celery and then put some rasins(ants) on top of the peanut butter. It is so easy that the kids would be able to help, except for the cutting of the celery.

Yes..this is my favorite and my kids absolutely love it.

Crispy Candy Sushi Snacks

There's definitely something fishy about these Japanese-style rolls. The rice filling is crispy, the wraps are fruity and your kids will love them.

Ingredients

1/4 cup butter
4 cups mini marshmallows
6 cups crisped rice cereal
20 to 25 gummy worms
1 to 2 boxes fruit leather

Directions

Grease a 12- by 17-inch baking sheet. Melt butter in a 2-quart saucepan over medium heat. Add the marshmallows and stir until smooth.

Remove the mixture from the heat and stir in the rice cereal until it's evenly coated. Turn the baking sheet so that the shorter ends are at the top and bottom. Then press the marshmallow mixture onto the sheet, distributing it evenly.

Starting at one side an inch up from the lower edge, place gummy worms atop the mixture end to end in a hortizontal line. Gently roll the lower edge of the marshmallow mixture over the gummy worms.

Then stop and cut the log away from the rest of the mixture. Use the same method to form 4 more logs. Slice each log into 1-inch-thick "sushi" rolls and wrap them individually with a strip of fruit leather.

Makes 4 to 5 dozen.

For parties: this is a little messy, but kids of all ages can make "ants on a log", which is celery stuffed with peanut butter and topped with raisins. Another idea is s'mores without a campfire, which are graham cracker sandwiches with marshmallow fluff and chocolate frosting from a tub. If the kids are a little older, you can cut up cheese and fruit and they can make their own kabobs using party toothpicks.

For afterschool snacks when you aren't home yet: I leave my kids bananas and peanut butter, they can break the banana into pieces and using a fork, dip it in the PB. This is also good with pieces of apple. I also leave my kids yogurt and string cheese or cut-up cheese.

I have a 7 year old and here are some things she really likes:
- I keep cleaned and cut celery in a container in the fridge and she piles on the peanut butter.
- I slice an apple and she dips it in peanut butter or sunflower butter
- english muffins with a small amount of tomato sauce and some sprinkled cheese popped into the toaster oven is a fun little pizza treat.
- she and I bake muffins and keep them in the freezer in a zippy bag and she can take them out whenever she wants a healthy and delicious snack. We use whole grains, lots of bananas, nuts and dried berries, and of course chocolate chips. Sometimes she "ices" them with butter, cream cheese, or even icing and likes to top them with sprinkles.
- banana and peanut butter on crackers
we really like peanut butter around here.
- a plain sandwich of any kind is jazzed up with cookie cutters and then they are perfect for tea parties. She really like butter and cheese sandwiches, which are really easy to make with sliced cheese and soft butter.
have fun!

Ants on a Log

Just spread peanut butter on sticks of celery and stick a few raisins in a line on top of the peanut butter. It is delicious and nutritious, and kids love to make it. They can even lick the peanut butter off of their fingers when their done!

My son learned to make "black and white snack" in kindergarten. Softened cream cheese and chopped black olives mixed together and spread on Ritz. He is 18 now and still likes them.

English Muffin Pizzas are also fun
