Do you ever think about people in Africa? They are starving, being mutilated, innocent people are being slaughtered in civil wars, and are dying from disease. So, why would you put an animal who is being fed, never mutilated, killed only when they have lived life, and treated when they have a problem, over your fellow man?

Personally, I would kill 50 cows if it meant that an African village could eat a decent meal.

Actually I am supporting an orphan. What are you doing? By the way that doesn't get rid of all the disease and civil war. Plus, have you seen a pig's tail? It really serves no purpose. Also, chickens would harass other chickens to the point of death with their beaks, and it would just be dangerous if bulls weren't castrated.

Actually, the animals enslaved for food are mutilated--chickens have their beaks seared so they won't peck at each other due to stress. Pigs have their tails cut off so they won't bite each others' tails. Bulls are castrated without anesthetics. And cattle are branded. The lives of animals who become are food are unremitting misery from birth to death. There are 10 billion animals slaughtered in the U.S. every year for food (50 billion worldwide)--do you really think for one second that they are "treated when they have a problem"? They're loaded up with hormones and antibiotics that find their way into your food.
Now, 70 percent of the grain grown in the U.S. is fed to animals who become your food. I am not going to pretend for a second that if people stopped eating meat, this grain could be fed to the starving, as it's a matter of distribution, not supply. But the incredible waste of resources used in the meat, dairy, and egg industries should give anyone pause.
And killing 50 cows isn't going to help that village for long. ONE meal isn't going to help them.

Two wrongs don't make a right. Actually it's helping those people because with the costs and amount fo grain needed to feed 50 cows you could feed twice as many people. So I guess you could say that by eating animals you are putting your own selfish greed above that of people who are starving and malnourished! Plus, I don't know if you've ever been to Africa but the majority of their economy runs off drugs not agricultural commerce. Even in the Middle East. For example Ehtiopia's largest crop is used for cocaine not to feed it's people. The cocaine actually stunts their hunger making them think they don't need food and causing the thin bodies you see on TV. Most of the actual food grown goes towards the political leaders and malitia not the starving people. In Afganistan the larges crop is poppies used for Opium and heroine. While their people starve they make so much money off drugs. That's the biggest reason they are so affected by famine and poverty.

The quality of life of people in Africa has absolutely no connection with the choice of people in 1st world countries to become vegetarian.
Both are issues that deserve our attention, as well as thousands of other worthy causes in our messed-up world.
Please give the podcast episode I link to a listen. It's geared towards vegetarians, but might answer your questions. (Start at 3 minutes 30 seconds)
As for the necessity of pig's tails and bull's manhood. It's not a question of if they need it, but how they are removed--- without pain medication. Chickens will not peck each other to death if they are given the right amount of space. There are plenty of animals that attack for territorial reasons, and they put the chicken in so close together that they are constantly pressing against each other. Try riding in a crowded elevator for your whole life and see how murderous you feel.

Your nipples serve no purpose-would you like to have them cut off? Chicken in a natural environment rarely harm each other-it is when they are forced to live in a cage smaller than a piece of typing paper that they get aggressive.
these animals also do NOT get to "live life"-cattle are slaughtered at about 2 years, chicken and pigs at one-unless they are confined as described to lay eggs or as brood sows, whose pen is too small to turn around or lay down.
Also, meat is less cost effective than plant based foods-it takes 20-30 pounds of grain to produce one pound of beef-bet those Africans would love to have all the grain wasted to produce your favorite cut of steak.
In the future, please do some research before you ask ignorant questions and make unsupported statements.

trust you one hundred%. there's a distinction between animal rights and animal welfare. regrettably even with the shown fact that, i think of many people nonetheless lump them together. i've got been referred to as an 'animal rights activist' in the previous for thinking the situations particular animals have been saved in, or for thinking merely instruct/working high quality canines ought to be bred. such as you, and the everyday public right here, i became taken aback as for me...animal rights activists are loopy Peta nut-jobs who think of possessing a puppy is against the regulation against nature. on an analogous time as i don't experience this way, I DO experience that they have a "superb" to a loving being concerned homestead the place they're dealt with right. i'm going to reword that and say that each and every canine merits a solid homestead and since the individuals domesticating them, it quite is our activity to furnish that for them. you're able to think of a vet's workplace could understand the version and use the superb phrases. legitimate: final element i bought for my canine became a bag of Orijen. No...wait...that became my unfastened bag, so in the previous that i bought a bag of freeze dried liver treats and a bottle of anti-itchy shampoo (Edward looks to have some seasonal grass allergic reactions)

First of all, What in the world does animal rights have to do with African civil wars?
Animals ARE being mutilated.
They have nothing to do with people killing OTHER PEOPLE.
The animals are being fed, sure.
STEROIDS.
:l
I respect your views on the disease and the civil war, But it honestly has nothing to do with American animals being treated the way they are.
And please, research before you make such statements?
Thank you.

Please do some research and you will find out that 20 pounds of grain go into eating 1 pound of beef...If we abolish slaughterhouses and animal factory farms, there will be no more animal cruelty AND the millions of tons of grain used to feed the factory animals can easily go toward abolishing starvation in unfortunate places such as Africa.

Just because vegans care about animals doesn't mean it's to the exclusion of people. Some of us have big enough hearts to care about BOTH, believe it or not.
(And, since you brought it up, I donate money to the Save Darfur organization and have supported a Nigerian family, too.)
