i've had a sinus infection for the past few days. i'm feeling better now, but breathing through my mouth all day has taken it's toll on my singing voice and throat. my throat feels raw, and i've also been coughing. i have a very important audition on wednesday, and i really need it to be in perfect shape. is there any kind of quick-fix or something that could help? i appreciate any help!

I find nasal cleaning really helpful for preventing colds, and shortening the length of the cold.

Also, be sure to re-hydrate, re-hydrate, re-hydrate. Hot lemonade with honey is traditional. So is grated ginger with honey in hot water. Try not to drink cold water, but room temp is find.

Rest as much as you can, and don't try to push your voice today and tomorrow. You can breathe, though, and do exercises to help your core-strength.

Stay out of the air conditioning, don't let fans blow on you, etc.

do not breathe through your mouth. that is only making your throat drier and you are also inhaling all the pollutants in the air. In other words, " close your mouth." I tape my mouth shut also at night (been doing it for almost a year now) with medical paper tape and no more waking up at night with my tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth. But the most important thing to do is to train yourself to only use your nose to breathe. In as well as out.

Lots of tea, maybe a shot of olive oil to keep things lubed! Maybe make an appt with an ear nose and throat doctor.

Usually 2nd Soprano. I used to be able to hit some 1st Soprano notes but I'm not so sure now. I'd try now but I'm sick & can barely sing in tune right now! ☺♥♫ I sound like a boy going thru puberty right now.

hopefully you used antibiotics for your infection.
Just a thought.... when I was in choir in high school, we would take a swig of lemon juice before our performance.
