Try a Frittata - its so quick and easy! Its like an omelet and depending on how many people are coming you can may a couple different kinds. Set your oven on broil and scramble up 4 eggs. Pour into a medium-sized oven safe fry pan that has been sprayed with Pam or some other non stick spray. Let the egg just sit and cook, don't move it around or anything. While its cooking , add your toppings. You can do veggies, cheese, meats, salsa - whatever you like - but have them ready because your eggs will not take long to cook. Once the egg is cooked on the bottom but still runny on the top (will only take a couple of minutes) transfer the pan to under the broiler. In a couple short minutes the top will cook and your frittata is done. A frittata this size will serve two to three people

That's really nice of you!
You could go continental and have a selection of meats, cheeses, different breads/rolls and maybe croissants.
I'd probably also do a really nice salad to go with it, maybe even an Italian salad with sliced tomatoes and onions layered together with mozzarella and basil leaves (I rip the mozzarella so it looks nice and rustic) sprinkle with balsamic vinegar and a little olive oil and then add salt and pepper to taste.
Alternatively you could have a posh afternoon tea with finger food. Nice sandwiches cut into little triangles, mini scones with cream and jam or a selection of cakes (Mr Kipling??) some strawberries with sugar (and cream if you fancy a cream overload), melons and grapes in a posh bowl, some ham pinwheels, prawns with a nice sauce etc. And of course the obligatory birthday cake - you could always make fairy cakes and just do a slightly larger one for the birthday girl.
Afternoon tea always goes well with pink champagne! (Sod the tea lol!)

components one million small narrow French loaf (additionally regular as baguettine) approximately 2 oz (50 g) easy, creamy goats' cheese (the spreadable style it somewhat is provided in tubs is fantastic) 3-4 clean basil leaves 2 company, medium-sized tomatoes one million½ tablespoons solid-high quality olive oil one million clove garlic, overwhelmed one million point tablespoon Italian pesto sea salt and freshly milled black pepper Pre-warmth the oven to gasoline mark 4, 350°F (one hundred eighty°C). you will additionally choose a baking sheet. First integrate some million tablespoon olive oil with the overwhelmed garlic and unfold over the baking sheet, then slice the bread into thinnish rounds; you will no longer choose each and all of the loaf. Now organize the slices on the baking sheet, press them into the oil then turn them any incorrect way up so as that each and each floor has a mild coating of garlicky oil. Bake them interior the centre of the oven for 20-25 minutes, or until eventually they have became a golden brown and advance into very crisp. Do watch the timing in this – I fairly have thrown away extra burnt croutons of bread than I care to bear in mind! Cool them on a twine rack and keep in an hermetic tin until eventually you elect them (they are going to be ok for as much as two weeks, that's extremely useful). once you're waiting to serve, dermis the tomatoes by pouring boiling water over them, bypass away for one million minute, then halve them, scoop out the pips, slip off the skins and chop the flesh into tiny cube. Now purely unfold each and each crisp bread slice first with a skinny layer of pesto, then with a beneficiant layer of goats' cheese, and sprinkle on the diced tomato inclusive of somewhat overwhelmed sea salt and coarsely floor black pepper. finally, utilising a small teaspoon, upload some droplets of olive oil – however be careful to no longer overdo this. Scatter some clean basil leaves over the bruschettas to serve. This recipe is taken from Delia Smith’s Christmas.
