if your not normally used to this kind of exercise, the liver overshoots and makes more sugar than is needed for the activity. so while it seems the opposite should happen, remember the liver stores a vast amount of sugar as glycogen-ready for action.if you continue on a regular exercise regiment, the hi bs should stop.goodluck;)michele

It depends on how soon after exercising you tested. If it was right after then your blood sugar is up because of the energy and adrenaline that your body has used to power your muscles for the exercise. if it was at least an hour after then your like me, and instead of your blood sugar dropping, it raises after exercise. The Doctors have yet to figure that one out with me...i just know that i go high after exercise and have to give insulin for it. What you eat before hand could play a role in the increase as well. If it is high in protein or fat then it takes longer for your body to break it down and willt ake longer for your blood sugar to raise.

my father is in the same boat as you... works out often but his sugar level went from 90 to 210 in one day. his dr. advised him it is what he ate. each person has different needs with this condition my father is mostly eating veggies and some red meat (only some) lots of fish too. now he is back to 90. and doing better maybe you should ask your dr. for a good diet plan.

the body stores energy in different forms, fat is one of them. when you do strenuous work, your body's demand for energy increases, consuming the quick energy from your last meal and eventually using the fat stores in your body. you might have worked out quite a sweat and triggered the releasing factors in your body that's why your blood sugar went up...
