I've taken a nutrition class and the best way to reduce sugar cravings is to lower your intake of sugars. Your body gets use to elevated sugar in your bloodstream and can actually be addicted to the elevated sugar. Did you normally consume high-sugar foods? If so, your pancreas got use to putting out the extra insulin to keep your blood sugars at a normal level all the time, so you will have a sugar drop in your blood when you don't continue consuming as much sugar as it's use to-- then the cravings hit. The longer you stay away from consuming it, the less dependant your body will be to have it and you will crave it less. There is no Recommended Dietery Intake for table sugar, which shows our bodies don't need it! Sugar in some form (fruit sugar is called fructos) is found naturally in all food sources so watch out for that too if you decide to just stay away from it altogether in order to ease the cravings.

haha Oops... I just wanted to add... I didn't realize this was the diabetes forum, so yeah, you know. My mom has diabetes and wishes there as a cure-all for the cravings. I guess when you have diabetes, the cravings don't go away because your pancreas isn't funcitoning properly... Ahywho... I'll pay better attention next time.

Splenda works great for me. In the Winter I have hot chocolate made with Splenda and it's wonderful.

Also, I find it true, as someone else said, if you eat less sweets you crave them less.

Also, I find that exercise helps. Instead of a candy bar, go for a walk around the block. Yeah, I know, you'd rather have a candy bar. 8^) So would I. But I would also like to die with both my feet still attached, thanks very much.

Green tea would be the mildest, but it works and is easily accessible. Oolong tea, in my opinion, is a stronger product for suppressing sugar cravings, but may be harder to find...and the taste may not be as easy to acquire.

I just wanted to comment on the above mention of oolong tea. The only problem with it, is if your diabetic, oolong tea suppresses the bodies use of insulin. That is why it is used as a weight-loss tea. So taking it as a diabetic would not be the best idea.

you fairly do would desire to work out a doctor, and ideally one which will pay attention to you. i do no longer understand how lots you recognize approximately diabetes, yet there are super dangers in touch with you arising problems whilst your blood glucose point is as intense as yours. have faith me, in the experience that your blood glucose stages proceed to be as intense as they are for terribly lots longer, you are going to finally end up in well-being facility besides. you would be getting the needed therapy then, yet it truly is not any convenience once you're at death's door. even in the experience that your healthcare expert isn't listening, attempt to impression on him/her how traumatic that's making you sense, and tell him/her which you fairly are feeling truly ill. Ask him/her what you're able to do to diminish your blood glucose stages. (actual, you would be getting suggestion from human beings right here who will inform you to try this or try this. i'd propose by contrast till you have spoken to a doctor ... ideally a doctor that knows your scientific history and knows of the medicine which you're at present taking.) in the experience that your healthcare expert nonetheless won't pay attention, i'd propose which you seek for yet another healthcare expert. this is truly no longer something so which you are able to be messing around with ... except you recognize what you're doing, and the thank you to rectify concerns ... and you deserve greater ideal help than you look getting suitable now. I choose you nicely.
