In the example you give, bottle water is fine. It is a lot better than bottled soda for example. The problem with bottled water is when a person is in their own house or somewhere else with available tap water and still chooses to drink bottled water. In 95% of US counties the tap water is as good or better than bottled water anyway.

Bottled water is looked at poorly because you could have gotten the same product at home basically for free, equal or better quality, with much less energy wasted had you thought ahead.
If you're in a situation where you didn't expect to need a drink or couldn't bring one, then there's certainly nothing wrong with choosing bottled water over a soda or other bottled drink. You're correct that if you're going to buy a bottled drink regardless, it doesn't really matter which you buy. In fact, you're better off buying bottled water because it's healthier and requires fewer ingredients and thus less energy to produce than sugary drinks.
But of course it's just best to think ahead and try to bring bottled tap water.

People were under the impression that bottled water was from a cleaner source like a natural spring. Some of them are but most of them aren't. A public source is just what it says. It's from the public water system. It's filtered and bottled for sale. I really don't care what the big complaint is because I'm going to buy it regardless. My tap water has a taste to it that I really don't care for. I could buy a filter for my tap but most are not that effective from what I've read. So I will continue to buy my 24 pack case Dasani and enjoy the tasteless refreshment I get. The plastic bottles are a worry because of the environment but as long as you recycle life is good.

At least other soft drinks give you something! Good, bad or indifferent, you at least get a product!! Water is free(basically) yet people seem oh so willing to pay exorbitant prices for a package! No sugar, no chemicals, no vitamins and minerals. Just a bottle!

you are going to be able to desire to supply her the determination of a bowl until she learns a thank you to get water from the hot bottle. while she's attempting to get water from the bottle, gently squeeze the bottle and water will pass into her mouth. this sort she is familiar with thats the place the water comes from and at last will study.

Cuz of the bottles itself...they feel its a waste of plastic when you can get water from tap. I guess people aren't reusing bottles enough in general...I don't reuse my VitaminWater bottle...

It is just the fashion. The new hot political topic. Like aerosol spray cans in the 1970s. Like global warming now. That will pass too, and some new thing will become the #1, end of the world, we have to drop everything and fix it problem.
