I have had several times in the morning when I knew my blood pressure was high - and I need to know if it is safe to take it during that time or do I need to wait until my bp meds kick in.

art_flood - Except for very few exceptions (such as when people have dialysis fistulas in one arm or another), checking your blood pressure involves virtually no risk to you whatsoever. Feel free to check your blood pressure whenever you feel the need.

You can take your BP at any time, whether you know it's high or low. It may be a good idea to take your pressure, then your meds, and after 20 or 30 minutes, take it again to see the difference it makes.
