A great cut of beef, refried beans, fried plantains, rice. That is usual in Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
Nacatamales in Nicaragua are like huge leaf-wrapped tamales with pork, currants, chile and plenty of other good stuff. A meal in one. Pork rind and yucca salad called chicharron con yuca, it also has cabbage and tomato, really delicious. Maduro frito, which are thick slices of fried plantain. Quesillo, which is a delicious soft cheese, or smoked cheese, which is unlike anything I have ever tasted before. Guava Jelly, absolutely the best in the world. They have great fruit too.
For all of those out there who are not really good at Geography, Central America is Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama.

My hubbie is Salvadorian and I've been to El Salvador for xmas, I love their food... They have;
Pan con Pollo: shreded chicken sauteed with tomatoes & onions and put in rolls.
Tamales de Pollo: they cook their masa 2 times, unlike mexicans, their masa is sooo soft and wraped in banana leaves with a little chicken & veggies in the middle.
Tuttie fruttie: chopped fruits (fruit salad) with a spike!
I love their traditional breakfast: Fried plantain, blended refried beans, sour cream (but theirs isn't sour it's better!), a piece of queso fresco and a couple of huevos estrellados. I'll have that for breakfast when ever I can.
They also have a drink called "ensalada" it's sooo yummy, it's like home made fruit punch with all the ingredients finely chopped.
I love my husband's country... I'm proud to say, I'm salvadorian also, by marriage.

I'm El Salvadorian and We eat a lot of bean soup, Pupusas with curtido, plantain (fried) with beans and cream. What else do you need? Tamales, Torejas, And pretty much just eggs and all sorts of other food.
