Insulin does NOT burn sugar. It helps your body to metabolize sugar, so you can use it for energy.
Un-needed insulin shots will lower her blood sugar to a level that can cause coma or death.
There could also be a risk that her own pancreas, now confused by the unusual swings in sugar level, will be unable to react when she stops the shots.

You might want to check how you ask the question. When the question was asked, all you asked is what happens if someone that does not have diabetes takes a shot of insulin. You would get better answers if you framed the question correctly. Your question should have been more along the lines that someone was in the hospital, they were prescribed something that was increasing their sugar levels, and the doctor prescribed insulin to bring this down. Perfectly alright if it is in a controlled situation with a doctor that you are comfortable with. If someone received a shot of insulin, and was not a diabetic, there could be issues that arrise because their body is already producing insulin, and now that extra shot added more insulin to their body. Good luck, and suggest maybe being a little more clear in your questions.

With the newer types of insulin these days, diabetic diets aren't necessarily as restrictive as they used to be. Read here https://tr.im/diabetestreatment
As with any medicine or diet change, you should discuss it with your doctor. Fruits, both fresh and dried, have a natural sugar in them that will raise blood sugar levels, so be careful about eating too much. Not sure about the nuts. Moderation is always the key. I've been diabetic for 18 years and just recently changed insulin types. I love it because it gives me more freedom in when and what I eat.

RE:
What happens if you're not diabetic and you take insulin shots?
My Mom's "friend" is trying to get her to give her insulin, eventhough she's not diabetic, because she thinks it helps her burn sugar faster... What are the effects of a non-diabetic taking insulin shots???

It could send her into a coma or even kill her!
A bit like if a diabetic takes too much insulin.
Symptoms of an insulin overdose are also the symptoms of very low blood sugar levels and include headache, nausea, hunger, confusion, drowsiness, weakness, dizziness, blurred vision, fast heartbeat, sweating, tremor, trouble concentrating, confusion, seizure (convulsions), or coma.

It would be very dangerous, causing a blood sugar drop if she is not a diabetic. Her pancreas is normal, it is making the insulin it needs, any more is to much. Here is a link to hypoglycemia, which is low blood sugar..........
