I believe "Love apples" is another term for tomatoes, mainly because they have an aphrodisiac effect.

'Pomme d'Amour' or love apples are tomatoes. Tomatoes are related to the mandrake root otherwise known as the "love plant" because (according to the Bible) of its aphrodisiac qualities.

I think it's a Pomegranate.They make Grenadine out of it, which you get in Cocktails.
