There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with rimming. People have been doing it for thousands of years.
Sex acts are not (in and of themselves) right or wrong. It is the context they are placed in that can make them right or wrong.
For example,
mutual consent - if this is not present, then it is wrong (including if the person involved is unable to consent...drunk/high, too young, rape, one of the people is in a position of authority over the other, one of the people involved is not fully informed of any possible risk due to STIs that the partner may have)
We live in a very sex negative society (see some of the above answers). It is very unfortunate, but a reality. And, the anus is an under-appreciated and over-stigmatized organ. So, for many people there is an instant negative reaction to anything related to the anus.......that is their problem, not yours.....and they are missing out for sure!
So, if you are with someone and they are OK with rimming than knock yourself out and enjoy!
It should also be mentioned that there is the risk of STI and parasitic infections being transmitted. Chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, herpes, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, a variety of parasites normally found in the lower GI tract. To make it safer, use a dental dam/barrier between your mouth and the persons anus. You can cut a condom open into a dental dam by unrolling it, cutting both ends off, and cutting down the length of the condom. It will open up into a square piece of latex. Put some lubricant on the side that is touching your partner. This will reduce the risk of STI tranmsission. HIV is not effectively transmitted by rimming.
