I hate labels but I wonder how some of you would define me.
I do not eat meat and avoid consuming dairy products, eggs or honey.

However, there is leather around the house and once in a blue moon, cheese is found in dinners I have ordered (which I ended up eating). Also, some of the fake meat products I have in the refrigerator include eggs and dairy ingredients.

Again, I do not buy eggs or dairy though. Eggs disgust me and I am lactose intolerant.

I call myself a vegetarian. However, some vegetarians I have met eat fish or consume dairy and eggs.
In other words, there is a lot of flexibility in vegetarianism.
And, I think my diet is stricter than simple vegetarianism.

Maybe, I am almost vegan?

Quick question.

Is there such a thing as dietary vegan? I have no issues in going vegan in terms of eating but the no silk, wool or leather is complicated. I am a poor college student and things can get complicated. After all, according to the definition of veganism, practicality is taken into account.

Funny, I have met vegans who ate cheese and meatless/non-vegan products occasionally and they would still call themselves vegan. I was never fond it since I would find this disrespectful in terms of labels but they get away with it just fine. I guess this is a funny thing about labels.

Well if you eat fish... you are not a vegetarian.

You either are a vegetarian or you aren't. Eating animals is a deal breaker.

If you believe in vegetarianism and you give up eating animals, then you would be a vegetarian.

Veganism is a little more complex. It involves eating no animal or animal products. Goodbye fish and cheese, Hello reading ingredient labels for hidden animal ingredients. It also means that vegans don't support ANY form of animal cruelty... that goes for diet as well as other products (any thing that contains animal products or was tested on animals).

So to wrap things up... Being a vegetarian means a lot more than simply giving up a few foods. It's a lifestyle choice and most of us have strong beliefs that influence the way we eat. For example, I am against animal cruelty. So that's why I eat the way I do.
Otherwise... If I didn't have any beliefs and still ate this way... I guess I'd just be an herbivore :]

You're vegetarian. My boyfriend is the same way--he won't eat eggs or dairy alone, but he will eat cheese pizza or cheese on a sandwich, and he adores Quorn (which has egg whites). He also wears leather shoes and belts.

Vegetarians do NOT consume fish.

I would just say you're a vegetarian who doesn't eat much dairy or eggs. Using any animal products precludes you from labeling yourself vegan, much as consuming fish should preclude those "vegetarians" you know from labeling themselves that way. Vegetarians do not eat animals, period.

Vegetarian. Vegans read labels and ask questions in restaurants.

You are an occasional vegan.

True vegetarians do not eat meat, fish is a animal therefore it is meat.

Your house may not be vegan but the way you eat is kinda vegan. I have leather too, (vegetarian)

Technically you are a octo-lavo vegetarian. Meaning that you do not completely abstain from dairy and eggs.

You are a person who chooses to eat what You want rather than that which is 'demanded' of You by Your peers. More power to You, and Your dietary discrimination!

You are a vegetarian.

And as for those “vegetarians” you’ve met that eat fish, well they aren’t vegetarians but piscivores.
