I take it that you are a vegetarian or a vegan, and not an 'omnivore' and that you have some 'deep psychological differences' with your boyfriend's 'line of work.' I have a question for you though ... is your boyfriend a 'butcher' (a killer of the animals) or is he a 'meat cutter' who simply cuts the dead meat for sale? If he is a 'real' butcher who kills the animals, and he won't 'quit' to 'please you' then you need to 'just forget it' ... but if he is only a 'meat cutter' then you should at least 'give him a chance' ... unless you feel that it is 'wrong in any way' to 'deal with the meat' for sale, then you need to 'forget him' and try looking in a 'vegetarian restaurant' for your next boyfriend.

although it shouldnt matter what he does, i would never be able to go out with a butcher, just knowing what they've been doing all day wouls put me right off. however it is really down to preference, we dont know anything about the guy so we cant really judge, i was lucky that my gf became a veggie just for me :)

I mean if it really bothers you then i guess you should break up. I really don't see why it bothers you and it not like you have to see him butcher and i don't know many women who don't like a man with a nice paying job.

Just make sure he showers after work. I can think of worse careers for a boyfriend to have...like mortician, sewer worker, gynecologist, the guy who scrapes up roadkill....count your blessings. :)
If it bothers you that much, you should probably find another boyfriend. It's not fair to make people change just for their significant other. You need someone you are truly compatible with, not someone who changes himself to fit what you want.

I think a lot of people are misinterpreting this question. "Keep on him" would mean continue bugging him about it, while "just forget it" would mean stop bugging him--nobody said anything about breaking up.
You should continue to bug him if his job bothers you for ethical reasons. If you are simply grossed out, then just try to get over it. But if you feel he is enabling people to abuse animals by eating them, then you should encourage him to find a more positive, helpful occupation.

Why can't you love unconditionally. Are you a Vegan? Don't Vegans love everybody. You are his GB not his W. Let the man learn something. He probably won't do it forever. Your a woman, don't you care more about the money anyway?

So I assume you feel that others don't have the right to choose what the eat? I guess if it really goes against you're ethics you should break up.

asking him to quit is the same as him asking you to stop being vegetarian. Youve each made you decision as to your beliefs. If you cant accept one anothers choices then you dont belong together.

WHOA Dudette. He's earning a living and that's his job and it's honest work. You need to do some serious headwork and stay with this guy if both of you love each other.
