Any pure form of tobacco is actually not as bad for you as the "light" cigarettes. This is because the "light" ones have harmful addatives. Pipe tobacco and regular cigarettes tend to have less addatives. However, Black & Milds are lik cigars packed with addatives and flavoring which just adds to the carcinogens. Smoking is bad for your health in general but if you really must, then I would stick to filtered regular cigarrettes.

It is generally considered that cigarettes are more dangerous becuase the smoke is inhaled into the lungs by almost all smokers while many cigar and pipe smokers do not draw it into the lungs. It would seem logical that anything that allowed cigar and pipe smoke to be sucked in deeper would increase the risk.

pipe tobacco has less tar and nicotine than cigarette tobacco. plus, the filter inside most tobacco pipes is a lot stronger than the one in your average cigarette. smoking two cigars or pipes a day is nothing compared to 20 cigarettes.

It all depends on how often you're going to be smoking them. If the cigar is smoked only once a day, whereas regular cigarettes would be smoked more than once a day, then cigarettes are going to be worse. However, if they are smoked equally as often, the cigars are going to be worse for you.

I know smoking 1 cigar is like smoking 1 pack of cigarettes.

Yes because you inhale or ingest more of the tars, resins, pesticides, and other chemical substances with which cigarette tobacco, cigarette paper, and therefore cigarette smoke, are loaded.
Pipe tobacco is none too healthy either, hence the amazingly high incidence of mouth and throat cancers in pipe smokers.

Pipe tobacco is probably just as harmful as cigarettes. It all depends how much you smoke. As for the dingleberry above who says "light" cigarettes are worse than normal cigarettes, he is wrong. "Light" cigarettes have longer filters and little perforated holes in them so you inhale less smoke. That is all.

ALL tobacco should be banned in the world!! Take it from someone who watched his mother die from the effects of smoking for two years.

It is not the type of smoking item BUT the nicotine in the lungs that is bad. Don't say you don't inhale, you can't just smoke and not inhale. STOP!!
