I have crab grass and clovers growing in my gravel driveway and I'd like to get to them before my landlord sprays pesticides all over the place! (I've been weeding them, but I'd need a good 48 hours straight to do it all!) :)

I just had to respond to you and your nastiness, especially on 9/11--one would think you'd at least TRY to not be so judgemental for no apparent reason....
So, just FYI, I could find a billion more things to do with my time than pull these weeds. HOWEVER, my landlord insists on keeping the driveway and yard a little TOO immaculate for my tastes, and frankly she owns the place, not me. If she wants to keep the driveway clear of weeds, I think she has the right.
I was simply trying to beat her to the punch by finding a green method of doing it since each year she poisons my pets and yards with gallons of Round-Up.
thank you very much.

check out Care2.com for some natural solutions.
However, crabgrass is very tough stuff, the only way I got rid of mine was to dig it out.

A safe and environmentally friendly herbicide, corn gluten meal (CGM), can be used in early May and late August to keeps crab grass and other weed seeds from sprouting. CGM is sold as A-maising LawnTM or WOWTM from Gardens Alive!, a mail-order company specializing in non-chemical garden products. For a free catalogue, call 812-537-8651 or see their Website at www.gardens-alive.com.

Safe 'N Simple® Pre-emergence Weed Control 9-0-0
100% organic, Safe 'N Simple® Pre–emergence Weed Control 9-0-0 is an all-natural plant product made from Corn Gluten, a dried protein separated from corn during the manufacture of starch in the food industry. Corn Gluten is a common ingredient used in pet food. In 1985, while studying its value as a fertilizer, researchers at Iowa State University discovered that Corn Gluten contains a natural organic compound which inhibits root development in seedlings. Germination occurs, but seedlings die from lack of a root system. The result is an environmentally safe, non-toxic, completely natural weed control.
Safe 'N Simple® Pre-emergence Weed Control 9-0-0 provides weed control and an excellent source of slow-release nitrogen, 9% nitrogen by weight, in an easy to spread crumble form. When spread at the recommended rate Safe 'N Simple® Pre-emergence Weed Control 9-0-0 provides 4 lbs. of nitrogen/ 1,000 square feet. Nitrogen is released as microorganisms break down in the soil.
For best results, Safe 'N Simple® Pre-emergence Weed Control 9-0-0 should be applied in early spring to control crabgrass and again in late summer. Many broadleaf weeds, including dandelions, germinate and establish root systems in the fall in preparation for spring growth. In addition to crabgrass and dandelions this product controls the germination of creeping bentgrass, smart weed, redroot pigweed, purslane, lambsquarter, foxtail, barnyard grass, and Bermuda grass. Safe 'N Simple® Pre-emergence Weed Control 9-0-0 is easily applied with a broadcast spreader. The recommended application rate is 20-lbs per 1,000 square feet. Safe 'N Simple® Pre-emergence Weed Control 9-0-0 can also be used around shrubs, flowers, and vegetable plants that have an established root system. Mix product into the top 2” to 3" of soil at the rate of 2 lbs. (6 cups)/100 sq. feet, repeating 2 to 4 times per season as needed. Safe 'N Simple® Preemergence Weed Control 9-0-0 remains active in the soil for 3 to 6 weeks depending on temperature and pH.

If you are that overrun with weeds ~ you may have to use some of the organic compounds that others have suggested.
For myself, however, I stay on top of the weeds growing in my cobblestone paths by simply pour boiling water over them ~ using the water leftover from canning, boiling eggs, and so forth.

Eat a ton of fiber but be sure to drink a lot of water too. That is always nature's colon cleanser.

THERE ARE MANY GRASSES THAT WILL CHOKE OUT WEEDS.You can use bleach water with soap the soap helps the spray to stick. Or use a scuffle hoe/this is a triangle shaped tool that is used like a hoe to weed. Use a turf builder
weed killer from the garden store. I would just live with it there
are worse things to worry about in life get a grip!
