My best friend (a vegan) buys these teriyaki tofu steaks (I am a carnivore and I love them!) and she dips them in this Green Goddess dressing...sooo good!

Depends on why you are looking for a meat substitute. If its simply to replace the protiens, Anything from eggs to nuts will suffice. If its because you miss the taste of meat, try some of the many meat substitute products out there like boca burger. Try a few different ones though, some you will like some you wont. If you get one and dont like it just try another. Some are better than others its just a matter of personal taste. I am personally not a vegetarian but I am currently on a diet to loose weight so as well as watching my carbs I'm also watching my fats and the soy burgers are a nice supplement for me.

Seitan (wheat gluten) is good--I make my own from Arrowhead Mills Vital Wheat Gluten.

There are more veggie burgers available than I can shake a stick at. You're sure to find one you like.

Harvest Direct makes a Veggie Ribs mix that's fairly easy to make.

Lightlife makes Smart Strips for tossing in your stir fry.

Several companies make veggie deli slices for sandwiches.

A German company called Viana makes the most amazing "Chickin" Fillets. They also make nuggets, sausages, gyro, and a Cowgirl Veggie Steak.

Most vegan shopping websites will have good meat substitutes, and you can also find some good stuff at your local Whole Foods.

BTW, if you're going vegan, you should know that Quorn is made with egg whites.

Temeph of all kinds is really good. It takes on any marinade and it can be used in place of fish or chicken. I actually like it better than tofu.

Tofu, seitan, tempeh, nuts, beans... all sorts of veggies, etc.

Personally, I like seitan (wheat gluten), but tofu is easier to find (just make sure you know how to properly cook it). I usually get most of my protein from beans and other veggies.

Also, the brand Quorn makes excellent faux meat products - "chicken" nuggets, chicken patties, cutlets, scrambled "hamburger".
