If someone eats part of a cow, pig, lamb, chicken, turkey, fish, shrimp, scallop, ant, worm or any other animal, they are not vegetarian.
If someone eats eggs, goat/cow/horse/dog milk, goat/cow/horse/dog cheese, candy or anything else with glycerin or gelatin in it or anything with eggs, milk, whey in it, buys things with leather/fur/feathers/wool, they are not vegan.
There is much more to both of them, but the main point is this- a lot of those hare krishnas are a bunch of stupid, lying freaks.

I am no expert, but the way I understand it some people are vegetarian for health reasons and they occasionally eat fish or poultry. Some are vegetarians because they don't want to kill animals, so they eat nothing with a face. I have heard vegans eat no animal products at all, but I think there are varried degrees of everything.

A true vegetarian does not eat any meat at all (including seafood or a bit of chicken here and there). Anyone who calls themselves a vegetarian and still eats meat is not really a vegetarian. There are different types of vegetarians which do eat meat, but those have specific names, such as pesco-vegetarians, who eat fish.
A vegan does not eat any animal products at all. A person should not call himself or herself a vegan if he/she eats goat cheese or any other animal product.

ssrvj:-Absolutely right.Only for the sake of that "Ego" they put their label on their forehead-Not on any rational basis--They absolutely have no idea what are the advantages or disadvantages of being a Vegan.So ignorant-that they do not even know the name of a single Vegetable protein,leave alone the Essential Amino Acids(Homo sapiens) composition and how they compare with an Animal Protein and an "Ideal Protein" suggested by WHO.

vegetarians dont eat the flesh of an animal....although i have heard of some eating fish bc it has omega 3s which can sometimes be harder to get through other foods.
vegans do not consume any animals or animal products. some vegans slip in things, and some people ca themselves vegans but they really arent. it is kind of hard to be completly vegan at times. but there are deffinitly ways to work around it. but some people dont bother and like to have that 'im a vegan' lable over their heads to feel special. no disrespect toward your friends, but thats how a lot of ppl are these days....

I am pretty sure-
Vegans will not eat anything that is in anyway from an animal.
However, some vegetarians eat products (eggs and dairy products) which originate from animals. In other words, vegetarians will not eat meat. Vegans will eat no animal product.

I'm pretty sure it's got rennet in it. I found a forum with this question. Someone had asked Kraft and the reply was that the coagulating agents were derived from both animal (calf and sheep) and microbal sources. Rennet is a digestive enzyme from the fourth compartment of a calf's stomach. They do need to kill the calf to get it, so it wouldn't be vegetarian. Make your own. It isn't that weird color, but it does taste a lot better.

True vegetarians won't eat any meat including fish, chicken, shellfish etc.
'Vegetarians' who eat fish are known as pescatarians.
Vegetarians who eat milk and eggs are known as lacto-ovo vegetarians.
Vegans will not eat ANY animal products including milk, butter, eggs and often honey.
Fruitarians will only eat fruit, usually that has fallen naturally from the tree, and is not picked.
After all that, gimme a nice juicy steak!

VEGETARIAN (Lacto-ovo- vegetarian)
When most people think of vegetarians, they think of lacto-ovo-vegetarians. People who do not eat beef, pork, poultry, fish, shellfish or animal flesh of any kind, but do eat eggs and dairy products are lacto-ovo vegetarians (“lacto” comes from the Latin for milk, and “ovo” for egg).
Lacto-vegetarian is used to describe a vegetarian who does not eat eggs, but does eat dairy products.
Ovo-vegetarian refers to people who do not eat meat or dairy products but do eat eggs.
VEGAN
Vegans do not eat meat of any kind and also do not eat eggs, dairy products, or processed foods containing these or other animal-derived ingredients such as gelatin. Many vegans also refrain from eating foods that are made using animal products that may not contain animal products in the finished process, such as sugar and some wines. FRUITARIANS –

The word piscivore is used to describe those who abstain from eating all meat and animal flesh with the exception of fish. Pescatarian is occasionally used but is incorrect.
POULTRYIVORE –
Eats chicken and turkey, but does not eat mammals.
FLEXITARIAN/SEMI-VEGETARIAN/DEMIVEGETARIAN
You don’t have to be vegetarian to love vegetarian food! “Flexitarian” is a term recently coined to describe those who eat a mostly vegetarian diet, but occasionally eat meat.
RAW VEGAN/RAW FOOD DIET
A raw vegan diet consists of unprocessed vegan foods that have not been heated above 115 degrees Fahrenheit (46 degrees Celsius). “Raw foodists” believe that foods cooked above this temperature have lost a significant amount of their nutritional value and are harmful to the body.
MACROBIOTIC
The macrobiotic diet, revered by some for its healthy and healing qualities, includes unprocessed vegan foods, such as whole grains, fruits and vegetables, and allows the occasional consumption of fish. Sugar and refined oils are avoided. OMNIVORE –

LANDIVORE

Eats fish but only uncooked.

SNACKATARIAN –
Will not eat snacks made in the image of animals. E.g. Chocolate Easter Bunny, Animal crackers, goldfish crackers, gummy bears, or swedish fish.
STRICT SNACKATARIAN –
Won’t eat chocolate easter eggs as well.
OVO-SNACKATARIAN
Will eat Chocolate Easter eggs, but not the chocolate easter bunny etc,
PESCASNACKATARIAN
Will eat goldfish crackers and swedish fish but will not eat gummy bears, chocolate easter bunny and animal crackers.
