I'm Pregnant and went to the doctors about a week and a half ago I just got the blood test and so on I was just wondering if any of my test came back postive would they call and inform me or would the wait until my next appointment. I really worried about the HIV test because I havent gotten on in a long time and had sex with someone else since. I know they take about a week for the results and I was thinking with that one test they would have called to let me know right away to prevent me from spreading it to partner or baby right? because next appointment is weeks away. Do anyone know should I be worring or not.

If you had HIV you would have received a phone call asking you to come in and see the doctor right away. I work at a doctors office. When a patient is tested positive we call them and schedule an emergency appointment with them. If we get the voicemail we leave a neutral message asking them to call back about the results, just as we would if everything came back normal. It only takes the lab 30 minutes to test for HIV, if you had it someone would have called you by now. And as a curtiousy to the patient the doctor should have called you anyway to let you know the results were unremarkable.

Usually with doctors no news is good news. If you want to know the results call your doctor or go in and ask for the them.

If there were anything wrong with your test results, they would contact you immediately. They would never make you wait for any bad news.

Relax, they would call you to come in and see the doctor if any of the lab values were in any way abnormal.
