HE can take it right away, but don't miss the dose. Alawys keep three bottles in the morning and write morning. afternoon and night on it this is what I advise my patients , so the chances of missing a dose is highly negligible.

"Never skip a dose (of coumadin) and never take a double dose.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember.

If you don't remember until the next day, please call the CAT Clinic for instructions.

If this happens on a weekend or holiday, skip the missed dose and start again the next day.

Mark the missing dose in your diary. A daily pillbox will help you keep track of your dose."

You have to be really sure that your husband didn't take his coumadin. If he has taken one doze and takes one again. Then he'll end up taking a double doze. Which can be very dangerous.

Dosage:
ADULTS

The administration and dosage of Coumadin must be individualized by your doctor according to your sensitivity to the drug.

A common starting dosage of Coumadin tablets for adults is 2 to 5 milligrams per day. Individualized daily dosage adjustments are based on the results of tests that determine the amount of time it takes for the blood clotting process to begin.

A maintenance dose of 2 to 10 milligrams per day is satisfactory for most people. The duration of treatment will be determined by your physician.
