I think you have to really WANT to quit before you can succeed. Start with a quit date, then take it from there. Be ready, eat candy or chew gum. I also suggest exercising ( if you already don't) because you WILL GAIN WEIGHT. I also suggest that when you are stressed or upset, find something to do, because you will want to smoke. Also you girlfriend needs to understand and be really supportive, it's really important. Quiting smoking is compared to quitting heroin! It's tough, hang in there.

I hope you didn't call that 800 number from "BROWNEYEGIRL". She said she quit smoking 17 years ago & STILL had the 800 number? I don't think they even had 800 numbers 17 years ago.
No matter what crutch you use it is going to be rough to quit. It seems to be easier for some people than others. What works for someone else might not work for you.
I smoked for over 40 years. I tried everything on the market to quit. You name it, I tried it & spent a whole lot of money doing it too.
I now have COPD to show for it. I am on oxygen 24/7. Some days I can't get out of bed. There is no cure for emphysema. You can't stop it. It progresses more slowly IF you quit smoking. My doctor told me to quit or I would not live a year. He later told me he didn't think I would live six months if I didn't quit. When he hugged me, it was like a good bye to me. I quit June 2006 & haven't smoked since.
Believe me, this is the slowest, most terrible way to die. I would much rather have cancer. At least they cut it out & you get some relief from it. You live with emphysema until it kills you.
I hope this helped you & anyone else to quit that reads this. Believe me, had I known what this disease was, I would have quit after the first cigarette I smoked. The addiction to cigarettes is nothing compared to this disease. Try & think about it that way.

I used to smoke. I smoked for twenty-seven yrs. It took 25 days for me to quit. I've never started back up again. I've been smoke free for 17yrs., this Nov. This is what I used.
Here is the number to call:
1-800-5433-7446
It's a device that, for the first week or so, you smoke and then press a button every time. Second week, It changes your smoking pattern, and you only smoke when it tells you too. It slowly decreasing the nicotine out of your system. As I said. it took me 25 days to quit. I even smoked 1-1/2 packs a day. I feel so much better now. I never thought how bad it was, until I quit. Now I know. Hope this helps answer your question. Try it, it really works. Let me know if your going to try it? And if you quit.

One word; CHANTIX!!! It is a new prescription medicine which blocks the nicotine receptors in the brain. They instruct you to start taking it one week before your quit date, but I quit after the 5th dose and never looked back.

Jesus Christ is The Answer. I quit, you just do it. no dumb patches, nicotine gum, or anyother hairbrain idea. Either you want to or you don't. In the words of Yoda; "Do or do not, there is no try."
I've not had a cig in 5yrs, just do it.

You have to find something or someone to really motivate you. How much money do you spend on cigarrettes, save that money & both of you go on vacation.
