Soy is a semi-cleansing food and in the process of cleansing it developes a gas build-up that causes you to pass gas. The smell is not necessarily from the soy but from whatever else is backed up into your system.

More often than not it is parasites. Have the vet do a fecal. It is even more likely if it started without a change in diet. Swollowing air can add to the problem. Slowing down its eating might help. There are not one, but 2 easy, tested, effective ways to control rapid eating. You can spread the food out on a cookie sheet or something. Some of my friends just throw it on the floor of the crate. You can put large rocks in the food dish, much to big to swallow. Either way, the dog can't gulp down one big mouthful after another. If nothing else helps, then try a different food. It is cheaper to try a different type of meat than a grain free and just as likely to work.

Putrifaction. It takes longer for meat to digest (we were designed to eat meat). Veggies have too much time in the GI tract so they putrify - and stink.
