I have been on Yaz for the last eight days, but unfortunately I have had my period for the last eight days. Normally, I have it for 6-7 days. However, it is currently showing no signs of slowing down. Did anyone else have this? If so, how long is this to be expected? How long is too long? It is pretty frustrating when you take it to help that, and it makes things worse. Other than that, the only other bad side effect I have had is my skin has gotten worse.

Don't give up hope. It is normal to have unusual bleeding when first using birth control or switching to another brand. It is also normal for your skin to be worse at first. You have to give it a few months for your hormones and body to adjust. If you are still having problems after the third month, be sure to notify your doctor.

Also notify your doctor if the bleeding persists more than a few more days (3)....just so he/she is aware.

I agree with ilse72. Just give it three months. I'm sorry to say that things will get worse then they'll get better. If you've only been on Yaz for 8 days you will have breakthru bleeding for a while b/c it'll take your body a few months to get used to the hormones in the medicine. Then after eveything has calmed down, your periods should be shorter and lighter (crossing fingers!) But for right now, you just gotta be strong and grin and bear it! I've been thru several birthcontrol pills myself and had the same situation as you! Hope this helps!

I have never been on yaz but personally i think that you should stop taking it. Then talk to your health care provider about the side effects that you are having and see if they can prescribe another medication for you. Because I'm sure that there is more then one PMDD medication on the market.
