Would sinusitis stop the effects of antihistamines? NO.

Sinusitis as the name implies is an infection of the sinus. You will probably have a nasal congestion, a runny nose, fever, and a thick greenish or yellow nasal discharge. When the infection just set in, the nasal discharges could be clear turning into greenish or yellow discharges after a few days.

A cold or infection in the upper airways, hay fever, allergies ,cigarettes smokes, air pollution, flying in airplanes, swimming underwater or even sneezing improperly can lead to sinusitis. What you have now probably is not sinusitis but may turn into sinusitis.

Anyway, to explain an answer to your question:
Sinusitis won't stop the effects of antihistamines. Antihistamines will inhibit secretions and will have drying effects on mucous membranes which may result in the formation of crusts that block the ostia, hampering sinus drainage.

In the presence of sinusitis, clearing the sinus infection is the goal. Sinus drainage should be cleared while keeping the airways moist. Decongestant may be helpful. Sips of hot fluids and adequate fluids will do a great job. Use of vaporizer or humidifier, saline nasal drops or sprays may offer some relief too.

If we will reverse your question:
Would the effects of antihistamines stop sinusitis? NO (but may prevent it if the precipitating condition is of allergic nature.)

Sinusitis is not a condition in which histamine release plays a role. So to say,the use of antihistamines in sinusitis is of no benefit.

However using antihistamines to relieve your allergic symptoms that could lead into sinusitis, is another chapter of the story.

I doubt it very much. I have had bouts of sinusitis and generally it does not include a runny nose.
The membranes in the nasal passages become very inflamed and in fact dry out.
It is the only time I have a good sense of smell because the mucus is not produced. I now know this to be one of the first symptoms.
Also all the nerves around the sinuses become over sensitive and most of the head is in severe pain. I some ways it is comparable and as debilitating as a severe migraine, causing nausea and vomiting, also confusion to the balance.
If you have a runny nose it more likely to be the symptoms of something else.
If you are taking the antihistamines for an allergy perhaps you should consider changing to a different type.

the anti histamines would help the symptoms of sinusitis as would help to counter act the inflmammatory response thats causing your runny nose. if you`ve got blocked sinuses then a decongestant & inhaling steam over a bowl would help to clear your sinuses.

Sinusitis or a common cold would not effect the efficacy of antihistamines. There are few contrainidications of antihistamines, mainly renal and hepatic impairment meaning a lower therapeutic dose is needed. To my knowledge there are few factors that reduce efficacy.

You should see your GP to see if you have sinusitis as this requires treatment xx

It shouldn't do - unless you are using a nasal spray antihistamine!

A good way to tell if you have sinusitis is to bend down - if you feel pressure in your sinuses, its a good indication they are blocked!

Best check with your Doctor in any case!

if you have a sinus infection that is going to supercede the antihistamines because the allergy has already taken effect, if that makes sense. You need to see a doctor to cure a sinus infection. Best of luck to ya.
