At its most fundamental core, a religion is a pathway to god. The purpose of every religion is to guide man in the right direction, educate him so that he is able to adopt the correct culture, lifestyle and mentality which is needed to connect to the divine creator, as well as to personification of God and spread godliness, virtue and love in the world.

Each and every religion is holy, sacred and must be respected because god is in every religion and every religion is in god. Islam and Christianity have been antithetical to the fundamental concept of religion. By marketing their religions like it is a business product and begging for recruits, they are disrespecting the sanctity of religion and they are making religion appear to be cheap.

Historically, Islam and Christianity are the only religions that have engaged in wars of religion, they have been responsible for some of the biggest genocides in the entire history of man as well as other atrocities such as slavery, the burning alive of women (Christianity) and the destruction of temples, the rape of women and the burning alive of pre-Islamic priests (Islam). Even today, Islam and Christianity, far from being a force for unity are a force for powerful divisions, and even today use religion to justify war, aggression and terrorism.

Courtesy of Islam and Christianity, many regard religion as a source of conflict and problems, furthermore many question what purpose has been left for religion. Many view religion as being an institution run by hate filled people who are more concerned about attacking other religions, gaining supremacy, acquiring recruits and money rather than actually preaching about God.

I am an observer, I want to see every word in its weight. The other day the word 'Holy' was grilling my mind for meaning. I find religion is not a subject, I mean subject of study like science, history. Even a language, is a subject. Every subject has growth but religion did not grow in turn another religion will come in to picture like some political parties and atheism are religions now.

It is said, 'god is in every religion and every religion is in god'. No, every man in a religion. Religion is the thing which is adopted from parents either it is Islam or Christianity. Every one comes into the world as plain and fresh. Plain and fresh can have knowledge and experience, along with we have belief. I find, 'belief is no longer a belief if it is Real'. Your experience or knowledge are Realities.

Religion: man will have to worry for only one thing, about his death, who ever he may be, he should settle about it now and immediately, it is his personal affair, nobody can help you in this matter.

Death is contrary word to Birth. Need not complicate it. Think, what happened to you by birth, let the same thing happened to you by death.

Saying is, 'be tolerant in society'. Sorry I cannot tolerate any body's rue-in. you may say, 'advise is cheap and illegal'. My advice is on research and discovery.

Some one was talking on conversion, Conversion is the key word of the Universe. Without Conversion there is no Universe. So conversion in your case is 'plain and fresh' in other words you should allow some thing to happen to you as it happened by birth, that is conversion.

About Terrorism, thinking or plot to kill another man either in bulk or solo. YOU ARE FOOL IF YOU THINK SO because some how 'you' and 'he' are going to leave the Earth.

Tell me, If You will not die or if he doesn't die, then I will tell you the solution.

Just as a rich man is respected in a Society, a rich (that is, financially rich) religion has wider acceptance these days, or so it appears, at least in India. The lure for lucre can do any thing on this earth. And, probably, the Almighty destined it that way.
While it is all right to pursue one's own religion, the desire to convert others also in to their religion appears strange. And having converted to another religion, some avaricious beings try to take a dual benefit out of it. There are some top politicians, who keep their religious identity secret after conversion and play the card as suited to the occasion. And, the guardians of the present religion of such converts take pride in such gentlemen and regard them as the saviours.
But for repeated invasions, there would not have been so many religions in India. The might is right, it is said. And, despite this, Hinduism is not totally eradicated. It survives and is regarded as one religion, which can not easily be obliterated.
Those who feel discriminated in the Hindu fold, now convert to another religion. Are they treated as superior beings elsewhere? After all, most of them stay where they are and the people surrounding them are the same. Where will the discrimination go? Supposing those who discriminate against them too join the same religion, what would be their fate? They have to go in search of another religion!
Just as you cannot change your father because he ill treated you, religion in which one is born is there for one. If there are some undesirable practices prevailing, one has to change it by remaining in it, but not by opting out of it.

not every religion has a god their are some that are nature based but have no god and those which are humanistic or atheistic which don't see the need to worship or recognise a creator. their are a few people who give a religion a bad name and these people are generally selfish, self important morons whom need to be seen as such. If christianity and Islam have bad names due to these people it is the greater majorities fault not that religions for allowing the religions name to be tarnished

When I read the first line of this question I jumped on to state the very thing which you stated in the continuation of your question. I can only add that I couldn't agree with you more and that there are still more religions that are guilty. Unless by Christianity you mean all Christian based religions.

My feeling has always been that all religions are fine and basically promote the same thing UNTIL they start imposing them on others or recruiting in any way at which point they become gravely dangerous and detrimental even to their own supposed cause.

Like in all things, man is the corrupter. Do you remember those employs of the World Health Organization that deliberately infected kids with AIDS? Is this a widespread issue? No. Would you say: Doctors are responsible for the spread of AIDS? No. The fact is people destroy everything they touch. They do it in Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Zorastrianism, Buddhism, Hinduism, ... Australianism, Communism, factory workerism, bathroom attendentism, newspaper readingism. No anthropological section is immune to our destruction of the ideals of that sections creator.

Islam says that the scripture of Allah has been altered and therefore christianity is false

Christianity says that muhammed(pbuh) is a false prophet therefore Islam is false

looking at these statements its predictable to say there a potential for a clash, I think it was something besides religion that sparked the wars, the idea to expand perhaps, religion was just an execuse,

Both religions teach you to be peacuful, and if people really killed eachother for religion than they werent too religous were they? If this is the truth than it can only be blamed on the false followers, not the religion itself.

why we should ignore religion? we need to ignore religion the way we attached now. the birth of religion was by default. ancient men only wanted a life of convenience which otherwise would have been ruled under jungle law. to make the people follow the rule of convenience, they had to be misguided to believe a god. in the name of god, so many webs were created most of which were myths. when men need to have a life of convenience, life of division on religious line is not necessary. we have to device a method to live a life of convenience and that need not be through religion!

Islam and Christianity cannot tarnish anything, its only christians and Muslims that can do that. I think mankind will always seek to be better than others, and if you remove religion, you have race, if u remove race, u have , education, size, friends, family. My point is people will always find things to disagree on, and while i cant comment on Christianity, i know Islam gives a code of conduct that even in war, disencourages barbarik behaviour. By your premise has Budhism tarnished religion? due to actions of some Budhist in Sri Lanka?
