I took this question from another user. I feel like he made a really good point and I want to see what you think.

God had the power but not the authority. God made man with a free will and He can not over rule this free will.

God is limited in His power by His word, the Bible. He cannot do anything that contradicts His word.

Man was responsible for the horror of the Holocaust, not God.

Racist? Don't understand that one!

If the world was a perfect place where no bad things ever happened, most of us would never really grow up. When you fall from your bike or if you became a bully and beat people up, you'd get older and realize some of your mistakes.

Now I don't believe that God caused the holocaust, but just as individuals we as a species have to grow up. Unfortunately just like individuals we have to be allowed to make mistakes and learn from them. Why this turns out so terribly is because as a group, we as human can really suck, and be very terrible people.

It's not really clear how old we are in a sense of global maturity, I'd say we we're like adolescents, still enthralled by sensational media... we still pick on the weak kids. On the whole I think as humans we still suck. But we're growing older, and we do learn; albeit slowly. But if bad things didn't happen we possibly wouldn't grow-up at all.

If you are speaking of the jewish holocaust of the world war, He did stop it. If he hadn't there wouldn't be any jews left. Most likely there would not be a whole lot of anything left. When the chosen tribes are gone so will every thing else. Everything on this earth will be washed away and a new earth and a new heaven will come. I hope to see you there brother.

Many of Viktor Frankl's contributions were a direct result of his suffering from the Holocaust, including the invention of logotherapy and the writing of "Man's Search for Meaning". Human suffering, even on the scale of the Holocaust, can benefit the soul of all mankind by showing and reminding us of what we are capable of, good and bad. I don't think you can separate man's highest achievement from his lowest acts any more than you can separate life from death -- they are joined together and part of what makes us human. It is up to MAN, not God, to stop Holocausts.

Assuming God exists...it would be correct to conclude it values not preventing the horrible death of 6 millions humans so much that it will go ahead and allow the horrible death of 6 million humans. The question is why...and the Christians have many assumptions for that part.

Looks like some people think you are racist for some very odd reason...I think it's dishonest and avoiding the question.

Its not so much that He "let" it happen. God gave us free will and thats what we chose to do. The spin God gives us is that now we must learn from this mistake by always talking about it with each other, in schools, and in movies like Schindler's list. the whole point of history is for us to not repeat the bad things of the past by learning about them.

If you had the power to go back in time and stop someone's death, would you? What implications would that give to the future? God gave us free will so that we could live out our lives like we wanted to. Even Hitler was allowed to live the way he wanted to. Even if that means holding 6 million deaths at your hands. Free will is everything.

God did not stop the holocaust, because when the Jews said to Pilate (the roman Governor), they said let the blood of Jesus be on us and our children. If the Jews believed in Jesus, there would have not been a holocaust (Mathews 27:25)
God is in control

God loves Israel so much that He may have used it to draw them back to He and His Son, Jesus Christ. The Jews have been separated from God and His blessings for some time and He will not protect them, as He would like to. as long as they reject Him by rejecting Christ! He did it before may times why not through the Holocaust?

God is all power, He can do all things. It is not wise for you to insinuate that killing the Jews was a good thing, because the Jews are God's chosen people. Do you belong to a Nazi Organization? †
