...Absolutely not. The plagues? Were those good? I think not... Killing. Isn't that against one of his own rules? It's all very contradictory.

And as an atheist, I completely resent that second statement. Maybe some atheists DO take things out of context... but can you blame them? They don't agree with the context to begin with. They don't even agree with the BASIS of the context presented.

Either way, you are generalizing/stereotyping. We're not inept, you know.

Two totally unrelated questions. Yes for the first one. God has never done anything bad. But second question is a totally different subject. The athiests have very valid points when they point out inconsistancies in the bible. That doesn't mean God doesn't exist, it means that the book has some stuff in it that isn't quite right.

God is the one that created the world, he hasn't done anything bad but also gave us the choice to do with our lives as we want. So you could say he did something bad there but who would want to have their life controlled? Not me. And about atheists taking verses out of context, even other Christians or which ever religious branch do it ... Some use them to try and convince and some are just plain out to be ignorant stating an opinion and twisting words. Human nature for you ... anyone can do it, not just atheists.

The question isn't whether he's done anything bad, but whether he's done anything at all. The events, customs and laws described in the bible were all the work of ancient people with narrow views of the world who tacked them onto their conception of deity in order to give them some authority. And no, the bible verses are usually not taken out of context - how many ways can you interpret rape, murder, genocide, slavery,...

YES I agree with you on your first question, and on the second one, I won't generalize all atheists to take the verses out of context but the majority of those that do that on Yahoo A are atheists....

I agree. The Bible can appear contradictory and depending on who is doing the translation you may have many different points of view. God allows things to happen for a purpose, or when bad things happen works it out to the good. He does not do bad stuff. It is not possible for man to know the mind of God, that is why he is God.

As god does not exist, he could not have done anything bad. OR anything good, for that matter. But I doubt that's the answer you wanted. :)

In what context would you find genocide and human sacrifice acceptable? In what context are mass murder and torture moral?

I would have to agree. If they are truely going to present their point, they need to research the material or In this case the Bible before making thier final statement on something they haven't read or know very little about to start with. Anyone can take the Bible and state verses and justify their arguement.

God has never done anything bad Agree....cause there is no god.

All Christians do is write fiction and try to pass it off as real proof of a divine being. All atheist do is show you where your fictional instruction book contradicts itself and you.

Agreed, as God would have to actually exist in order for him to do anything at all, good or bad.

How does one take genocide out of context? Or rape? Racism? Hatred? Educate me.
