It is called emancipation and once you divorce yourself form your parents you will not continue to get support from either of them because you at the time of tht divorce will be considered an adult and grown enough to take care of yourself without any parents help. Once you leave their home you have to find a job and a place to live and take care of yourself. It will be hard you should think long and hard about considering doing this when you can not take care of yourself without their help. Wait till you are 18 and you can leave on your own and they can not stop you nor tell you what to do, but for right now every kid needs the help of their parents no matter how old they are. Look up in Yahoo and research this topic "Emancipation of a Minor" and after reading that article make your decision.

A teenage fantasy. You might be thinking of legal emancipation, but I don't think that comes with child support payments. What do I know, though...I'm not a lawyer.

Isn't that when the child emancipates themself from their parents? Not sure about the "still have to pay for them" part though.
